Tough to admit but I think Porter is our best 9 these days.

I do think there's a solid XV that we could put out but we're
one quality back short off the bench. If Tyrone or Cadan were
available then I'd have a bit more confidence.

Also Riley for Jibulu.

I completely agree on getting Riley into the 23 but genuinely
interested to know why you'd drop Jibulu and not Walker,
especially after Jibs' 80-min showing at the weekend...
If I were to guess, I'd assume it's well-intentioned and you
want to look after a young player's body but these days 21 is
not as young as it used to be for a front rower and Jibs had
such a strong game I really feel he deserves to keep the 2
shirt.
Also, how do our young players ever get into their rhythm and
break through if we don't give them consistent gametime? I love
that we're seeing a fresh, young core emerging in key positions
(Baxter, Jibulu, CCS, Cleaves, Anyanwu etc) - when fit, let them
play!

Not dropping, more resting. Went with the thinking, just played
a full 80 at the weekend, short turn around to this week and I
dont think we loose anything between Walker/Riley/Jibulu. Its
been quite a packed start for us and there is plenty of rugby to
play (its why I also thought about resting Wev or JK). Its the
beauty of having real depth in certain areas

I think we do lose something between Walker/Riley and Jibulu.
Walker's darts are weaker than Riley's or Jibulu's, but Riley
isn't as good in the loose as Walker or Jibulu.
Jibulu looks very much like our best hooker right now (and for
the future), but I agree with you about not overplaying him.

Interesting - I have Riley down as much better than Walker in
the loose, where Walker has always been (at least in my eyes)
largely ineffective.
The only argument I can really make for Walker is that he's our
best scrummaging hooker - but I trust Bomb to get Jibs and Riley
packing more of a punch in there and the benefits each of them
seem to bring at both lineout time and around the park far
outweigh that slight (hopefully temporary) downside.

I have always thought of Walker as quite a hard runner, gives us
a bit of punch. When I said you dont lose anything between them,
I was meaning more along the lines that while one maybe better
at the set piece, one gives you something in the loose (all have
their plus points and flaws but all bring you something and are
good options to have, I dont see a real drop in quality when one
plays over the other overall)

Walker is a monster in defence a lot of the time. He doesn’t
seem to get credit for that.
