Maidstone Quin and Quinky.
I can accept both points.
Baxter had been struggling a bit this season, I feel he's
played a lot (too much?) rugby in the last 12 months.
Similarly for CCS, he looks good, for 40-50 minutes and is a
beast. But I don't think he can really go for 80 yet. I don't
think I'd start either of them, I would bench them and aim to
give them 20-30 minutes at the end if anything. Hello there
progress without asking too much.

As far as I can see, Baxter has not been doing much wrong
technically (though I didn't see the Gloucester game, which I
gather was the toughest one he's faced), but he doesn't seem to
be getting the backup from his locks that he needs, and does
seem to be in need of a rest.
The game that exemplified that for me was the one against NZ.
England were driven back in the scrum but the props stayed down
and level, and even popped up the NZ front row at one point even
after having gone backwards. England were penalised all the
same, but Wayne Barnes or Romain Poite would probably have
called "use it" rather than awarding a penalty.
He's also shown signs of learning on the go, which is a major
positive for a young prop - Palfreyman won a penalty on the
first scrum in Newcastle, but Baxter adapted and actually held
his own thereafter (the stats actually show a 100% win rate for
Quins' scrum so not sure how they accounted for the pen).

He's also one of our busiest players outside of the set piece.
Would be nice to see the same work rate from some of his
colleagues!

I think we must have one of the weakest 2nd row combinations in
a long time and think we do need a world class lock to really
kick on, certainly a line out expert.
Lamb is very industrious and worth his squad place. Herbst has
been good this season but off, Launchbury has been good in parts
but not the player he was at Wasps.
Lets hope we are in for Kpoku, I think he could be an excellent
signing

I think not enough is made of the relevance of the lock in a
prop's scrummaging. Maybe Launchberry should be selected more?

I think he would be but like Lewies he spends a lot of time on
the treatment table.

3 out of 4 ain't bad son with honorable predictions for Tigers
and Sarries.
Interesting the original post predictions that it was pretty
accurate for us and Newcastle

so you got 2 right, one did much better than you predicted, and
one did much much worse.
As for the original post, it put us in 8th. We were 7th.
So...no, they don't get points for trying (kinda like us). It's
a 10 team league with some extremely obvious choices for #1 and
#10!
