It was but I ues they accepted the rugby but not a load of other
events?
The group is not anoi rugby games, but did not fancy having
Chlesea there every other week for instance.

I don't think *anyone* fancies having Chelsea there every other
week! In past threads people have gone into why it just isn't
logistically possible to host regular football there due to
things like policing crowds, transport, segregation of pubs for
the opposing fans etc.
But on the other hand, imagine having 82,000 Swifties ("fans of
Taylor Swift, a popular music singer, m'lud") spending the
day/evening in the bars, restaurants, etc in Richmond &
Twickenham. Chances of anti-social behaviour? Minimal. Money
injected into the area? Not insubstantial. Then, add in the
legacy acts who have played/could play there such as the
Stones, U2, Coldplay, Madonna, etc. Again, the biggest issue
would be transport, but if it's organised in conjunction with
the bus/train operators, definitely do-able. Okay, there's some
impact on local residents, but no worse than a Rugby event (and
arguably less than the Army Navy game).

I may be misremembering but weren’t BTS due to play in 2020?
Their fans arguably would’ve rivalled the Swifties in every way
you mention.

I may be in the minority but i think travel is better than
Wembley. My wife went to the swift concert and her took an hour
from stadium to get a tube at Wembley Central. (Olympic Way was
closed off because it was too full for Olympic Park Station).
Even on England international I can get to a St Margaret's or
Whitton quicker than that. HQ is only 8,000 smaller than Wembley
too.

I think where Wembley wins out is the number of different
options there are in the number of stations within a 10 minute
walk & the different directions they can take you. TW has
basically got routes to & from Waterloo. Wembley has Wembley
Central (Overground, Southern, & Bakerloo), Wembley Park
(Jubilee & Metropolitan), and Wembley Stadium (Chiltern). By
having different routes all close, it spreads the load somewhat.

Agreed. Arriving at Twickenham via train is pretty bad even
though it's staggered over a few hours but leaving is a
nightmare. We usually get a bus in and out of Twickenham.

I think Sq meant that if the RFU moved to Brum, Saints and
Tigers would be able to play their Big Game clones in the new
stadium. Which is a fair point, but it would be a multi-year
investment to overtake what BG and BSKO achieve in attendance,
tv viewership and griping on this board.
