Yeah. I feel the same and totally understand he move. However, I
do think we may regret letting him go in the medium term. I
think he’ll really kick on at Ealing and could end up being
first team standard for a Premiership side.

This is sometimes where I struggle with how we extend contracts
for older players and let younger players go. Difficult to judge
how he would have progressed with solid game time but him and
Hammond together were like the chaos twins together.
I'd have rather kept him and let Lawday go, as sentiment wins
you nothing. He will have a very good career and will get back
into a Prem side in 25/26.

Perhaps JimmyG's point is how on earth can you (or I, for that
matter) make that kind of forthright statement with any rugby
credibility to it? The coaches who have seen these players play
and train for some years now know them inside out. There are
also other factors, such as salary cost, playing styles,
utility, injury record, and many others.

Also Lawday is an excellent and highly reliable player who has
produced many fine performances across the back row and
represents excellent value for money.

Don't think I said Lawday wasn't a good player, did I? Just
re-reading.............no I didn't.
I used a lot of Bucksquin's criteria and felt that a player at
the start of his career was better placed than one coming
towards the end. Presuming that Lawday is on more than Matas as
he has had more game time and would be better remunerated.
Also, if we don't have our own opinions then this board doesn't
really work, does it?

I've checked my post as well and nowhere in it did I accuse you
of saying he wasn't a good player, so settle down!
The point I was making is that you were suggesting Quins get rid
of an extremely useful and reliable player who has produced
excellent performances for us across the back row while also
suggesting we are keeping him on "sentiment".
I would argue that sentiment is why you want Quins to keep Matas
ahead of Lawday, given that Matas has only ever shown brief
promise vs Lawday's consistently good output. Any decision made
purely on their worth to Quins on the pitch so far would never
favour Jurevicius.

Lawds didn't do much last season due to injuries, but prior to
that he was consistently very good

Using that logic this board might as well close, if you can’t
have an opinion on a player without being involved directly with
the club
