Harlequins have named their squad to travel to Corsica for
Thursday’s pre-season friendly against Top 14 side Montpellier
at Stade Armand Cesari (KO 19:00 BST).
The 34-player squad features a strong mix of senior and academy
players, with the fixture the first of three pre-season matches
in preparation for the 2024/25 season, with Quins facing London
Scottish at The Stoop on Saturday 7 September (tickets here) and
Benetton Rugby in Treviso on Friday 13 September (tickets here).
Head Coach Danny Wilson commented: “We’re excited to commence
our pre-season schedule in Corsica. It’s a unique environment
for our squad and important opportunity for our players to gain
vital match fitness as we build towards September. The players
have worked hard over the past few months and Thursday presents
the first opportunity to test ourselves against quality
opposition."
Supporters can follow live match updates via the Harlequins
social media channels.

Good to see the return of Kenningham, Lewies and Launchbury, and
it will be interesting to see how the Inside Centre candidates
(Anyanwu, Hyde and Bradley) go.
Looks like the England and Wales players are being rested, which
makes sense.

It is just a shame that Lamb isn't in the list.
It is 8 months since he did his shoulder.

Yes, that is a shame. It looked so innocuous at the time. Hope
he's got a path back to fitness, but shoulders can be hard to
fix.

I did a quick check, and on the 14th of Aug, the club posted a
photo of Dino in training, so it could be that they're just
being careful in getting him back into the squad:

Didn’t he pop it out in the act of scoring or something? It
looked like just a twinge at the time but was clearly serious.

At the recent Members Day, Dino did not participate in the squad
drills, but he was working out with one of the coaches. That
included some Souma-type wrestling as well. I asked him how he
was later & he said he would be fit for the season, but didn't
say when. He looked in good nick though.

Could someone who is attending do a Match Report if at all
possible?

Interesting to see some names omitted, indicating either not fit
yet, or possibly being held back as starters for the season so
thus preventing too many injuries.
I'd go for to start..
1. Els
2. Walker
3. Lamositele
4. Launchbury
5. Lewies
6.Trenholm
7. Kenningham
8. Chisholm
9.Porter
10. Evans
11. Cleeves
12. Ayanwu
13. Joseph
14. David
15. Green
Unsure on subs in friendlies with basically everyone on the
bench. If thats the case, I'd then at around 55/60m bring on
Jibulu, Evans, Hammond, Beard, Bradley, and Zheng amongst the
rest.

Based on previous seasons, I think they've tended to give
everyone who is fit at least half a match in the warm ups,
generally favouring less experienced players and injury
returners in the earlier games, and only bringing in the big
guns later. Given subs are effectively unlimited, it's often
been almost a complete team change at half time.
