This is my worry with BB - realistically, if we decide he's the
young man to give consistent gametime to, are we just developing
him for a season before one of the Welsh sides swoop in and
offer him the shot at the Wales caps he evidently has an eye on?
We all know how Gatland's Law works. I'm not saying it's as
black and white as not using him - we have him, he's part of our
squad now, can't worry too much about ifs/buts/maybes etc - but
that kind of context surely plays into how the coaches consider
selection... Even more so given the fact that Anyanwu and Hyde
are both in the same age bracket and arguably at a similar stage
in their development (actually, Anyanwu arguably has more of a
claim staked already).
It's all largely redundant for now if you ask me - it seems
pretty clear Northmore will start the season at 12 until he
either surprises the majority of us, or continues to be
underwhelming compared to what he can offer us wider out.

Why is it clear that Northmore will start at 12? The only thing
I have seen suggesting that is a bunch of pundits (and fans)
speculating.
We might get to see him train there at the Members’ Day this
afternoon, but I’ve not seen anything to suggest thats’s the
club’s plan. As far as I can see they’ve given no indication of
what they are aiming to do about a replacement 12.

I'd say we have seen a fair amount to suggest that's the club's
plan - or at least Plan A. From memory, any time Andre wasn't
available in the second half of last season and Northmore was,
he went to 12. I'm sure there's a pedant waiting to tell me that
someone else played 12 for 10 minutes towards the end of a game,
but I vividly remember periods where Andre wasn't available and
I was watching games wondering why Anyanwu's previous run of
decent appearances at 12 suddenly counted for nothing when
Northmore was fit again (who, by the way, I just want to see
playing in his specialist position).

Actually Hyde is considered a 13 or wing this is where his
starts for us gave been. I don't know why but I always thought
he played 12.

He's the sort of size and shape where you'd expect him to be a
decent shot at 12, but then so is Northmore.

Agreed that that was what they did a couple of times last year,
but I don't think that says anything substantive about the plan
for this year. A lot of centres were injured last year, and we
don't know whether they were using Like as a stopgap while
preparing a different player
In the practice game at the Member's Day today, Lennox was
playing 12 for one side. I didn't recognize who his counterpart
on the other team was, but I don't think it was Northmore.
