       Where to sit?- staying dry...

       Morning all!
New member so dropping in to say ‘hello!’ and ask my first
       question!
Hopefully quite a simple one- I’ve been to the Stoop a number of
times and am going to be looking to get either a season ticket
next year or potentially a half season ticket for the second
half of this season. The half season would be a ‘trial’ so to
speak to see if my other half enjoys going regularly as much as
she enjoys going on the odd occasion. On a bit of a budget so
want to try to get something in the lower two price tiers, but
the thing that will kill it for her would be if every time it’s
raining, we get wet in whatever seat we are in.
I’ve got my eyes on seats in the west stand and the south stand
but they are quite close to the front and so I think are at risk
of being in the ‘wet zone’. Does anyone on the forum sit far
enough forward that they get wet every time it rains? Or anyone
on the forum watch the people three rows in front get wet whilst
they stay dry? Is there a particular stand that gets the worst
of the wind/rain? Keen to hear from you and what row you sit in!
       Many thanks in advance!

The prevailing wind being Westerly/Southwesterly you are better
off sitting in the West Stand. You with also have the benefit of
the sun not being in your eyes.
The first one or two rows will get dripped on even after the
rain has stopped. The first 4-6 rows may get wet if the rain is
       swirling a bit.
Problem. Prices are higher for rows 5 and upwards. You may get
people standing in front of you in the first 3 or 4 rows. You
can ask them to move, but they may be officials, or coaches,
       water boys etc.
There is a better class of person in the West.
       HTH.

Go as far back as works for your pocket if you're in east or
west. South stand you've got more options. The problem being too
low (front 2 rows) in east and west is people walking past you
       and not just the weather.
We're in the west (although lucky enough to be a bit higher up)
The rain does tend to blow in a bit on the front couple of rows
-- but not much further up normally to be honest from what I've
       seen.
Occasionally a tornado clears the front 30 rows, but that's only
       happened once recently.

You may have a problem finding the seat you want at this time in
       the season.
The other problem can be when your seat is near to a
loudmouth/knowitall/dipstick. That drives me mad. Why can't they
       accept that I know best?

We sit 11 rows up in the South Stand. It is usually dry - but,
sometimes if it is windy, we get a bit damp. So, I would say that
15 to 20 rows up in the South Stand would be best. Probably
also sit more towards the TV screen than the media centre side.

I've sat right on the front row in the East stand before. Great
fun, but boy do you get wet! Those festival ponchos are
brilliant though; you can cover your legs with them to stay dry,
they cost nothing, and they fold up small enough to put in your
       back pocket.
We now sit right at the very back of the South stand. Great view
and I've not been dripped on once since. It's nice to get a
different view of the attacking lines from behind the direction
of play, but I do miss being on half way.
Both seats are/were jester, so cheapest tier. (Very front row is
no longer that cheap, and no longer worth it for the restricted
       view for the price).
       Good luck!

I hope when you have had a wee that you then go straight back to
       get some more beer.

Ensuring that you stop on the way out to check and discuss the
order for at least a minute while play is going on.

The thing is that is funny -- but I like beer and if you're in
my row we are up at least once a half to get a pint. But we're
very polite and try to time it when there's a break in play. And
at my age I just need to wee when I need to wee.
