Do Investec have a soft spot for Quins?

Who cares? Do we think this is deserved?

Selected following recommendations from a Sunday Times columnist
apparently.

Dupont and Marcus. That would be a dream half back pairing.

To an extent, but (Buros aside) it's laughable to pretend that
the other sides who didn't contest the semis didn't have players
worthy of being in this team.

It serves to highlight how big the gaps we have to fill are.
We've not lost many players compared to some of the other teams,
but Will and Andre are big boots to fill.
I've got a high degree of confidence that Bomb can mould a
winning scrum from the resources he has available, but it looks
like we'll have to wait until preseason to see what Quins think
the answer is. Part of the challenge is timing - the senior
players are all outside centres, and player who most obviously
looks like a 12 - Sean Kerr - is a couple of years and a couple
of stone away from being ready.

Agree Poorfour. IMO we have a weaker squad (not a weak squad
before anyone jumps on this comment) than last year. We were
told that the club were looking to push on and there was a
question about transfer activity where I think Billy said it was
all going well. I find that hard to believe given we’ve made
one signing. So, unless he includes the Gilmore and given the
many rumours about us trying to sign a replacement for Andre, I
don’t believe things have gone to plan. Just hope the coaches
can work their magic and get more out of the players and that
Titi is a beast.

It's all relative. Pretty much every Prem team has lost a number
of senior players and replaced them more by promoting from
within than by recruiting. I haven't seen final figures, but
Quins have lost fewer big players than most other teams.
That doesn't make competing in the Champions Cup any easier -
but given the financial condition of the Prem teams, they don't
have much option. Laurie has said that Quins should be close to
breakeven this year; if we can achieve that and then build on
it, it paves the way for spending more on the squad in future
years.
