Found myself in the queue in Homebase in Richmond during Covid
behind a very tall guy with a South Africa accent. Obviously we
were both wearing masks; realised later it was Stefan Lewies who
at the time hadn’t yet made his debut for us. Think he was
buying some screwdrivers

The Caxton brothers in The Nelson in Whitton. I think they lived
there. My brother did some work for Ben Tapuai at a house in
Barnes/ East Sheen he was renting. Tony Diprose was a customer
of mine years ago before I got into office. Lovejoy Chawatama
queuing behind me in Wickes. (When he was at Irish). I’ve got
other anecdotes but they weren’t Quins players.
Danny Cipriani in his Ferrari driving through Richmond.
Andy Goode sitting outside a restaurant in Richmond. Simon Shaw
several times in St Margarets. Lawrence Dellaglio al the time
around Petersham, Richmond and East Twickenham. And many more
but that’s living in this area.

When my lad was playing for Twickenham RFC, we had a junior
league fixture at Tywford Avenue against Wasps.Naturally, I saw
fit to wear a Quins shirt - which raised a few muttered
comments. The highlight was walking out of the clubhouse, beer
in hand and coming face to face with Serge Betsen who was less
than impressed!Made my day. (That and Twickenham beating Wasps
obviously)

Used to see Serge all the time at County events. I think his
daughter played for Middlesex.
