It’s good that it didn’t ruin the game. I feel bad for Obano,
but it’s boosted Fin Baxter’s chances of touring.

Good final overall. Both will be in the top 4 next season for
sure, probably with Sarries. I think looking at the standard of
the playoffs, next season we probably will have our work cut out
for ourselves if we at least don’t get someone who isn’t
utilising the kitchen sieve defence plan.

Yeah this is the problem. The games were all closer than they
ought to have been because of the tightness of the defences.
It's a shame, I thought this season had put an end to the
drudgery of coaches prioritising big hits over skill, but even
saints struggled against sarries and Bath. We are better than
them in attack, but meanwhile we'll leak try after try.
If sleightholme isn't on the plane to nz I'm not watching. I
don't think he's put a foot wrong since coming back from injury.
Best winger in the country by miles.

I'm not as sure as you on Saints in terms of nailed on for top
four. They're losing Waller, Lawes, Moon and Ludlam from their
pack next season and the only established replacement they've
announced so far is Tom West. Of course, they might have some
academy gems to come in but on the face of it, they look weaker
up front.
Bath look to have a very settled squad and Van Graan is a canny
coach. You'd suspect they'll come back stronger next season.
If we get our defence sorted, there's no reason we can't be
mixing it at the top of the table next season.

Not sure I see Sarries as Top 4 material, big changes for them.
If they do, I think that truly will be an achievement.
Sort the defence for us and could be good.

I think they will still have just about enough, but I think our
biggest competition is Bristol and Exeter

Pleased for saints, better team throughout the season. Bath
really good on the day just didn’t quite have enough down a man.
Think we can take heart from this. Beat saints at the same
stadium handily (despite three yellow cards) and were 40-3 up on
the other finalists at one stage at home a couple of weeks
earlier.
Find a way to defend in a way that complements our attack and
can win a tight game or two and we are right back in there. The
league is super competitive - five different winners in last
five seasons - the pendulum will swing again next year.
