We’ve had plenty of time to plan for Andre leaving and I’m still
not clear that anyone is ready to step in. Really hope it’s

And I would hope that they have been planning. As Confucius
might have said... A good number of games begins with a single
start. Or something like that.

Players can adapt and learn. Many players cover different
positions, because they've learned to. It may well be that Lenny
has/will develop into a superb 12. I daresay Andre would have
had a few poor games in his early days.

Some posters seem to think that a rugby player can slot in at
any position without experience, particularly in defence, in
that channel. See, we can all play.

I can't. Not any more. Nice to hear that you can. What's your
position? And don't dare to think that you can ever play any
other position.
Of course, my post never suggested that ANY player can play in
ANY position. But you knew that.
Your counterpoint seems to suggest that no player can ever have
more than one position. It's a shame Tyrone first played for us
on the wing. We'd best stop playing him at fullback. Such a
pity, as he seems able to play both. Maybe nobody told him
that's not allowed.

There’s a big difference between being able to play a position,
and being good at it.
We can all safely say Northmore is NOT a 12. Beard is also not a
very good 13. Just in the same way Marcus can play 15, but is a
10. No real rugby fan wants Marcus at 15..

Lennox may well be able to become a fine inside centre, but one
has to admit that the evidence of this possibility is, as of the
1st of June 2024, rather thin on the ground. To say the least.
I'm sure that the coaches know a damn site more than me about
his potential, but it does concern me that we don't have a
nailed on starter at 12 as of now.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but didn't the majority
- all? - the players take a 25% salary hit during Covid?
Perhaps some of the salary increases up to the new cap will be
to make steady adjustments so they can be partially
recompensed..?
