Bristol made all eight replacements, nobody came back on.
Van Rensburg went off early. Then Genge and Sheedy at the end of
the first half.
At 57' they replaced Thacker and Sinkler.
And they brought the last three replacements on at the end, when
it was all over bar disappointment.
The only players to come back on were Cunningham South being
temporarily replaced by Chisholm and then permanently replaced
by him later.

I could have sworn I predicted DC a yellow against saints and i
must be imagining me calling bath sale and sarries to make top
4.

Ah yes - the Saints game. That was the one that you predicted a
loss.
Along with pretty much any other game that we played.
So - considering we have played 30 games this season and won 17,
then the best you could really hope for is to be correct 43% of
the time.
Sadly though - additional predictions such as score predictions
or predictions about players performing badly, etc (apart from
the DC YC) lowers your % even more.
And - don't even bother checking the in-game predictions.

In fairness, the 74 prediction, taken in context, was a jokey
response to me predicting 73 points would be scored in the game
and MQ responded in kind.
That ones a bit harsh.
Supporting any team is never always champagne and roses and some
people having a more pessimistic outlook is better than everyone
blowing smoke up the teams proverbial. We do need to call out
poor performances or when our defence is optional and we concede
over 50 points and I think we have a right to grumble about
that, else we just become a walking, talking version of the
matchday programme.
"The other team were just better than us on the day......."
doesn't always quell the frustration.

That passage was so frustrating. Genge and sheedy down, turnover
ball, acres of space. Just hoof it down and chase.
One tactic I just don't understand is not competing on their
lineout when not close to our line. I understand the pros and
cons of competing when they have a throw 5m out, but why not
compete in the middle of the pitch?
Fair comment above about tiredness due in part to not being able
to rotate much

This is interesting. Quite a few times this season we've had a
line out in the 22 or close to the 5m line and then chosen not
to compete, where I think the pros of competing probably far
outweigh not jumping/challenging

I may be mis-remembering it, but, I am sure that when they had 2
players down, Quins had a ruck and Bristol (quite intelligently)
slowed the ruck down illegally giving away a penalty.
(Basically, they just laid down on top of the ruck). I guess
they looked at it and thought that the worst case scenario was
that they would give us a lineout on around the 10m line with
them having 15 players back on their feet.
Theoretically, the ref could have yellow carded them for a
cynical penalty - but, considering that the ball was close to
our try-line, this was worth the risk.

I thought exactly the same thing - if it was the other way round
Bristol would def be running from their 22…I think we had the
advantage too!

skip to around 49 minutes into the coverage. (35 minutes on the
match clock)
You see Genge going down.
At 35.26 you see Sheedy going down.
At 36.03 Green turns the ball over 10m from our try line. It
takes an age from the ball to come out of the ruck (15 seconds)
Ball goes back to a pod of forwards around 7m out who form
another ruck
Next ball goes to Andre who attempts to run. He makes a few
metres (back to around 10m) and gets tackled after bumping off
the 1st tackle. By this time Sheedy is back on his feet. (He was
actually hopping around, but, maybe to the players it looked
like he was back playing.) Genge was still down.
Ref blows whistle at 36.38 at the ref stops the clock.
I am not sure that there really was much of a chance to break
and get down the other end due to the amount of time that it
took Green to get the ball back once that he had turned it over.
I also think that this was a very lung-bursting 3 minute passage
of play starting with the Bristol scrum between the Bristol 10m
and 22 (33:30). The forwards probably all needed to get some air
back in their lungs.

Bristol were brilliant at slowing the game down all afternoon.
After every score and kick off, they'd have a player down in the
middle so that the ref had to stop the game, same with the set
piece, they must have sucked 10 or so minutes out of the game
and the ref allowed it, as in not stopping the clock.
