       Yes. It was things like payments from a Wray-related company for
       personal appearances that never happened, and loans to buy or
       renovate property that were  later forgiven.
       The cap even back then included those forms of payments as part
       of a player's total remuneration. The issue was that the salary
       cap manager did not have the power to investigate properly. You
       may recall that Sarries chose relegation over opening their
       books, so we will probably never know how extensive it was.
       What we have seen this season is that while their first team is
       still highly competitive, they don't seem to have the strength
       in depth they used to have, and have looked more like a well
       coached prem team than an all conquering juggernaut.

       And they're about to lose a chunk of extremely well paid and
       hugely experienced players, without replacing with similar
       quality.

       Like everyone. For once.
       I'll be really interested to see the final positions across the
       league. Most teams are cutting squad sizes and replacing
       experience with youth, but some more than others. Exeter (and
       maybe Saints) seem to have a bit of a head start having brought
       a lot of young players through this season.

       Bath seem largely immune, too.
