Nah, the guy ruins numerous threads. Not like it's the
occasional annoying post or controversial opinion from a genuine
fan. Just an idiot trying to derail every thread. I know he can
come back under another name but at least put him to the trouble

It’s the persistence that’s the issue. We tolerate the
occasional bit of trolling but he was vying with createaforum’s
software for the “thing that makes this site most unreadable”
award.

Agreed. I think supporters from other clubs are most welcome and
add a fair bit to the forum. This individual just spent the
whole time on the wind up, wrecking threads with disingenuous
wind up merchanting.

Good to hear the annoying, serially-negative contributor has
been dealt with. Not sure it's worked though. As of 8:33 this
morning MaidstoneQuin still seems to be able to post...

This person has de-railed several times the BSKO thread.
I think it is best to simply ignore his/her posts; if he/she
posts, then don't respond at all ! Just follow the post with a
completely different angle/aspect from what the Troll raises.
Remember, malevolent attention seekers will give up if they are
completely and utterly ignored repeatedly.
NB : there have been many instances in the past when supporters
from other clubs have contributed to this forum constructively
and politely - they should continue to be respected and welcomed
by us (as they have been).

Yet when DOK temporarily muted him there were people on here
doing their best to goad him into responding. It would appear
some site users enjoy engaging with trolls. You can't please
everyone.

In reality it doesn't work like that and never has. "Trolls go
away if you ignore them" has never been accurate, and it relies
on literally everyone ignoring one person. If that is what is
needed, then that one person shouldn't be part of the forum.
I get that it sounds odd coming from someone who engaged him the
most but you can't ask everyone to ignore the trolls - it's
unworkable and it requires everyone including the occasional
posters to know not to respond.
And even then, he'd still keep it up. Because it's pathological.
As we'll see when he registers a new user, because it's been his
MO on multiple rugby forums over the last decade.

That is true. It is absolutely pathological. Most of even the
hardiest trolls set up a couple of new usernames but give up
eventually. This one can take a couple of years out and still
come back, you'd think people would just find something else and
move on eventually.
He did used to post on lots of topics though, now he's a single
issue quins troll. Which is weird.
