Harlequins have named their matchday squad for Saturday’s
Investec Champions Cup quarter-final against Bordeaux-Begles at
Stade Chaban Delmas (KO 15:00 BST – live on TNT Sports).
The starting XV features the return of flanker Chandler
Cunningham-South and scrum-half Will Porter, with fly-half
Jarrod Evans and centre Luke Northmore also returning as Impact
Players.
Academy graduate Oscar Beard starts at outside centre for his
50th Harlequins appearance.
In the engine room, Fin Baxter and Will Collier maintain their
front-row partnership with hooker Jack Walker. Joe Launchbury
returns at second-row alongside captain Stephan Lewies. Chandler
Cunningham-South and Will Evans start on the flanks, with Alex
Dombrandt at number eight.
In the backs, Will Porter returns at scrum-half to partner
Marcus Smith. Andre Esterhuizen and Oscar Beard maintain their
centre combination, with Cadan Murley and Louis Lynagh on the
wings. Tyrone Green resumes at fullback.
Amongst the Impact Players, there’s a return for tighthead prop
Simon Kerrod, with last Friday’s match-winner Sam Riley named
alongside an experienced group of forwards including Dillon
Lewis, Irne Herbst and George Hammond. Scrum-half Max Green
joins Jarrod Evans and Luke Northmore as the replacement backs.
Director of Rugby Billy Millard commented: “We’re embracing the
challenge on Saturday. Quarter-final rugby is special and our
boys are excited to test themselves against a good opponent in a
tough environment. The guys selected have worked hard for this
opportunity, they’re hungry to perform and we have confidence in
our squad to challenge for the result."
The winner of Saturday's quarter-final match will face either
Toulouse or Exeter Chiefs in the Investec Champions Cup
semi-final on the weekend of 3-5 May. Click here for more

Basically as good a team as we could hope for.
Here's the Bordeaux side:

So compared to last week no Poirot and no Penaud, which may help
a bit, but it's still a very impressive side.
I think Saracens showed that they won't be beaten at their own
game, so I suspect Quins will need to find a way to disrupt
their patterns and do the unexpected. It's a shame we don't
still have Marchant, as he would have been ideal for this kind
of game.

Although the Quins PR dept. speaks of the return of "tighthead
prop Simon Kerrod," presumably he will play loosehead?

As good as a team we could put with maybe Riley starting.
Need to see a big game from Beard, as I think with
Northmore/Joseph returning in the imminent future he will have
to be looking at his shoulder asking if he's done enough to
retain that 13 berth.
Hopefully CCS hits the ground running as he will be a key figure
giving us some go forward for the premiership run in.

My god, how is the BFA nearly at 50 caps already???? That has
come very quickly
As stated, as good as we could put out a good mix of experience
and youth. Northmore, god I want him to get over this bad luck
and get a good run of games under his belt, he brings so much to
the side.
Cards dealt, let's see how it goes. COYQ!!!

I wonder if we'll see more of him on the wing post-Lynagh. He
showed up well there in his early games.

Decent team given injuries. Riley really has to be starting.
Echo comments re beard.
What does BFA stand for, assuming Baxter? Surely that stat is
wrong

Tricky for Porter, and the team to get used to him in such a
tough fixture.
Would have preferred Riley, and hammond starting with lewies
covering the back row. Guess he moves back when ccs runs out of
puff.
Beard was superb earlier in the season, fully deserved his
call-up. Hopefully another game back and he'll be back to that
level. But yes, would be great if northmore could get a run.
