Tigers breach salary cap again
DIR By: SiB

---------------------------------------------------------
Leicester have been fined by Premiership Rugby after another
past salary cap breach by the East Midlands club came to light –
for a season when they had already been found guilty of an
over-spend.
The Tigers released a statement confirming that they have
'accepted and paid an over-run tax' issued by PRL relating to
the 2019-20 league campaign.
They have been forced to pay £47,136.91 – the amount of the
additional breach – having previously been ordered to pay fines
and taxes totalling almost £310,000, two years ago, for salary
cap offences between 2016 and 2020.

It’s a further £40k on top of the breach they’ve already been
fined for in that year. There probably won’t be further
sanction, but it’s compounding something that pre-Saracens would
have been seen as a very bad breach.

If it was “ me being sick” Saracens we would all be baying for
them for to be relegated to National 2

If Saracens hadn’t happened… possibly. But Leicester’s total
breach is still less than a single year of overpayment to one of
the handful of Saracens players that were the basis of the case.
Because they chose relegation over opening their books, we don’t
know the full extent of how much they breached the cap. We don’t
know how many players were actually involved or how many years
it went on.

By not opening their books they covered up a huge amount
