I saw that post but think it's clutching at straws. Just a silly
cheap shot from Steph I think. Deserves a yellow. No more

Hasn’t Lewies done something similar before though? Dodgy clear
out, ban and tackle school. Or is old age kicking in and I’ve
       imagined it?

He got a ban and tackle school for a clear out on CCS I think. I
thought it was harsh and thought CCS slightly milked it.
Certainly not in the same league as this. One was a possibly bad
clear out. This was a pointless cheap shot, by a player playing
badly in a team getting walloped. All rather poor

In all the broohaha about austin's involvement, I think the
actual seriousness of the hit has been blown out of all
proportion. Sure it was cheap and cynical, but no chance it was
more than a yellow and 'what a prat'.

Thinking back to Jimmy Cowan's in an AB v SA match. Beaten for
pace by Bakkies Botha, having to pull him back by the shirt.
Bakkies not being one to overlook such things, retaliated. No
surprise that the kiwis repeatedly showed the follow up, but not
once did they show the initial offence.

No need. Retaliation trumps the original offence anyway.
Also, first time I've heard the phrase "beaten for pace by
       Bakkies Botha". 😁

Botha, the notoriously mild mannered, clean player. Never known
       for a cheap shot

The funniest part was Botha acting surprised at the suggestion
he'd done anything wrong, whilst a large red mark was appearing
       on his forehead.

I suspect it was the embarrassment that made Cowan try to pull
       him back.

That's not quite what happened - it was a chargedown off Cowan's
box kick. Almost impossible to not get beaten there as your
momentum is forward and the charger is running at you. Cowan
       grabs him immediately.
