RFU investigating TMO decision at the Showdown

In the closing stages of Saracens’ thunderous 52-7 win over
Harlequins, Stephan Lewies, the frustrated captain of the doomed
visitors, hurled himself recklessly into Owen Farrell, who was
on the ground beside a ruck.

Least that could hopefully rule out Stephan of any more games he
could influence

Dumb by Lewies, someone of his experience, even if Farrell
brings that out in everyone.
I can see the ref/TMOs point though, if you let the media
dictate what should and shouldn't be looked at, can you imagine
Ireland, France & NZ test matches!!!!!
Shouldn't have been missed though

He was pretty dumb the whole match - what a crazy sin bin after
being warned by the ref - not a captain's performance I'm afraid
😒

But that already happens to some extent as a slowmo replay is
shown on the big screens so the crowd starts booing. At least
the broadcast media for club games should have some semblance of
neutrality. I doubt Healey really cares who wins a Sarries Quins
game.
The opposite would be (as seems to have happened here) that the
team of 4 would rather brushing an incident under the carpet to
save face. That shouldn't be acceptable.

I didn't say it was acceptable, I said I could see their point
and your example is when they are already reviewing it, so crowd
bias is expected (a'la DC v Muster when he got punched in the
face and slapped one of their forwards round the head and the
noise for the slap was equalled by silence for the punch).
But the reality is that they should have done it anyway. Shame
we didn't show that level of aggression in our defence in the
first half.

I’m sure I’ve seen occasions when a ref has called in the TMO
for a review because he’s seen something on the big screen

Yes, that happens.
Austin tends to scream "they've got to look at that" for some
off screen or not noticed act, and he is frequently incorrect
that it is foul play, but he knows full well they can hear him.
The solution is to have people watching the same footage keeping
an eye out for foul play, rather than having the motormouth be
the canary. They should not have the commentary feed.

It had not even remotely occurred to me that the TMO would have
the commentary feed under any circumstances. Consider me
surprised.

I read on Facebook about this and someone said that Faz had knee
dropped one of our players and Steff was retaliating. Don’t know
if that’s true and haven’t seen a replay but they didn’t really
cover the incident very much on the day.
