       I'd say France by 10.
Feyi-Waboso being out for me is a big issue, he carried well and
looked a genuine threat, something we've not had a winger do for
a few years in my view. Freeman hasn't let anyone down, but in
the same token a winger should probably be your main try scoring
threat and he hasn't really shone in that department yet. I
would like to see Muir given a go over Daly, who doesn't excel
at anything on an international level.
England's best chance is getting an early score or two and
hoping the notoriously fickle French crowds turn on their team.

That's the bit I'm not sure is necessarily true any more.
Looking at the top try scorers for the current Prem season,
Sleighthome is out on his own (7) which would suggest it should
be a winger as the main threat. One try behind is Lewington
which again adds weight to the argument. But Tuima at Chiefs has
also scored 6. Behind that is group of 11 players on 5 tries.
That does include IF-W, Reed and Lane (plus David but my
impression is that he usually scores from 15) but also McGuigan
and Thacker, Mitchell and Spencer, even Thomas du Toit.
Taking the bigger sample of the whole of last season's Prem, we
see that Thacker was joint 3rd highest try scorer with Dunn one
behind him and Montoya one behind that.
Bearing in mind that there are two wingers on each team who are
both likely to play a full 80 whilst there is only one hooker or
9 and they usually get subbed off, I'm not sure teams are seeing
their wings as the main try scorer.

A teams style of play probably determines that though. If the
team is playing a forward based game keeping it tight around the
pack, you would of course have more forwards scoring, probably
as they would have more ball with that specific game plan.

       Oh I fully agree.
But the opinion of some seems to be that England should be
picking a team that encourages a winger to score and should
therefore should only be picking scoring wingers. My point
(which you seem to be agreeing with) is that there is more than
one way to win so picking a non-scoring winger isn't definitely
a mistake. Caveated that whoever is picked for every position
should have a skillset which plays to the intended gameplan.
Perhaps against a 6:2 bench, Freeman's job was to legally take
out one of the Irish backs. In which case he did his job with
       aplomb.

You also need to consider the team he's playing in. Radwan is
way down the try scoring list, bit you have to think that if he
was at saints or quins he'd be scoring shedloads.

A guy who scores a try once every 4 games is preferred over 7
English wingers who score one every 2.

Could it be (just an idea) that there is more to wing play than
       just scoring tries?
Steve Hanley was the Prem top try scorer but still has one too
       many caps.
