       Wasps still alive?
   DIR By: Mr_B
       Date: February 26, 2024, 5:29 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
got sent this today, I guess because I have ordered tickets from
wasps in the past for an away game. not sure how this is going
to work or how many old wasps supporters will want to stick with
them after everything thats gone on:-
Wasps continues its substantial efforts to return the men's and
women's teams to the highest level possible of performance
rugby. In October 2023 we outlined the 3 pillars that define our
intent and our direction of travel. They are:
       A competition entity
One that is fit for purpose and reflects the values that WASPS
       and others adhere to.
       Sustainable finance
The cornerstone of our recovery relies on sustainable finance
and a robust business plan that avoids a single point of
       failure.
A stadium in which to play
We have made substantial progress in the establishment of a
suitable ground in which to play as we progress the planning for
       our new stadium.
       What has changed?
We can now inform you that we have secured the core Sustainable
finance and a Stadium in which to play. All we are waiting for
is a competition to join that will allow us to compete at the
highest level - and one that shares our values.
As we navigate through our most challenging period, this is a
call to all of you who have shared this journey with us.
Whatever entity we join will want to know the level of support
we enjoy. By signing up to our new database, you're not just
showing support; you're becoming a foundational part of our
       return.
Every sign-up is a step towards revival, a testament to the
enduring legacy and the future potential of our club - your
club. Be part of our story.
Please take two minutes to sign the pledge and share with your
       friends and family.

So, that sounds like they are planning on playing at an existing
ground, rather than the proposed location in Kent (given how
long it would take to get a stadium built there). I can't
imaging they'd be groundsharing with an existing Rugby Club, so
it's either Sixways (which they have control of still, I
believe) or sharing at a football stadium, & we all know how
       well that works out financially...

Sixways is/was Worcester Fred, so football stadium probably.

Bill Sweeney wants them back in top tier and will do anything to
make it happen.as opposed to blocking ealing and jersey . the
       whole thing stinks

It's owned by Loxwood Holdings, run by Christopher Holland, who
bought the Wasps out of administration. (Some details HERE
  HTML https://www.worcesternews.co.uk/sport/23798642.wasps-promise-protect-worcester-warriors-brand-new-owners/).<br
/>It doesn't seem a big leap to see Wasps, if they are to play
somewhere, making use of an asset under their control. On the
Wasps board, one person is saying the talk is of trying to join
the URC (possibly as a "Welsh" club) if they aren't happy with
where the RFU want to put them if/when they put a squad
       together.

I can't believe that signing up to a database would have any
sort of bearing on whether a competition allows them to join.
Everyone knows who Wasps are / were and can see their recent
       attendances
Sounds like a means to get you in their new mailing list

Am I alone in thinking they've missed out the fairly important
fourth pillar - a squad capable of playing at the level they
       aspire to?

My bad. Sorry Fred, I’ve just been re-educated by a Wasps fan.

What a load of pie in the sky nonsense. Standard whinge of
       threatening to join the URC.

And it's not even a credible threat as the RFU have the final
       say.
