Seems that forum wisdom says that Lynagh is a bad defender.
Can't see I've noticed it particularly.

We have a guy who has a 50% hit rate over loads of caps.
Then we have these guys who have barely played if at all, at
senior level. So that's fine.

If Lynagh's a princess then maybe it's just a good move all
round. While I'd agree that good management involves
understanding and dealing with a bunch of disparate
personalities you have to draw a line if someone has an adverse
impact on the squad.
If course I don't actually know the situation; my comment is
based on the post above.

In the 1st half against Tigers he gave away 2 daft penalties - 1
for an early tackle (seriously early) on a kick chase and the
2nd for a tackle off the ball having dropped a high ball - he
then proceeded to be terrible under the high ball and generally
fell off tackles.

So he had a bad game, happens to everyone.

He’s had plenty of bad games defensively, was just highlighting
what happened in the last match.

Ester was absolutely dire against tigers. The whole team was a
mess.
Youre not seriously suggesting that a couple of late or early
hits on high balls means anything whatsoever? Those aren't the
same as defensive lapses or missed tackles. What a strange line
of argument. I honestly don't know of a single winger who hasn't
mistimed a kick chase at some stage, particularly one with a 5
man shield like tigers employed.

We have been very fortunate to maintain a very stable squad for
the past 2/3 seasons, but everyone goes through some periods of
change. We will lose some big names in the next couple of years
(Andre/Danny) but Quins have a good academy so we can expect to
see some new faces, and hopefully more will work out than don't.

If its 100% he's off, chuck Cassius in against Munster and see
how he gets on. Maybe it will be a good indication of what he is
like against a good team as it will probably be a good indicator
if he will be a viable option to replace Louis going forward.
