I'm led to believe* that this dates back to his injury lay-off.
The club were disappointed that when he returned to training he
hadn't put in the required effort on conditioning that he was
prescribed during the injury period and returned in a
sub-standard condition. It would explain his initial lack of
pace too. He apparently then doubled down with his attitude and
expected to be an automatic 1st team selection when available.
The club then 'rested' him for a couple of games to demonstrate
he wasn't expendable. the situation seems to have deteriorated
from there. Whilst it's a shame that communication breakdown
seems to be the main issue, Quins have a history for not
tolerating big egos, so it's probably not so surprising that he
wasn't offered a new contract

He was shocking in the 1st half against Leicester and got subbed
at halftime, for every wonder try he scored there’s numerous
defensive lapses to balance the books.
Also is Cleaves gets fit again then it’s exciting to think he’s
got a route to the 1st team - he has the potential to be
exceptional.

It did seem like something else was going on when he was neither
in the squad or the injured list.

We have Zheng in the academy too so well stocked for wingers.
Plus if his contract is up then hard decisions are needed with
budgetary constraints.
Quins have a history of losing big name players and, perhaps
aside from second rows, always finding very solid replacements.
I won't be worried if Lynagh leaves

Cokansiga at Bath is out of contract this season. Whilst I
imagine he will go Sarries if he does leave, could be worse
replacements for Louis..

I can't see us going for a big name, we now have to find England
wages to keep CCS, who looks like he might be a long term
challenger for the 6 or 8 positions.
Beard and Josepth are also now looking like they will be
contracts with England. So interesting times, the smaller budget
will be hard to navigate.

That would probably work just as well as the signings of Ashton
or Goneva did.

With two of our three starters in the back three signings rather
than academy products, I'd expect the club to be keen to promote
from within.

Christ no! Can't think of many other wingers I would want less.
For someone so big, you'd think he'd know how to utilise it.
Can't catch either.

RugbyPass are reporting that Benetton made an offer and Quins
refused to make a counter-offer ahead of their deadline for
acceptance.
If so, it’s a shame, but I can see that Quins would have other
players who they’d want to secure before they would have a view
on what they could afford to offer Lynagh.
