Let’s be honest people, as fans we will not have much say in
what happens as the money will talk especially in an underfunded
games such as ours.

Agree 100%. I get tired of people posturing with little gestures
and gripes against places like Saudi; it's funny how they won't
stop driving their cars or taking flights. That's often the case
with virtue signalling - it's hollow and it's all about image.

Funnily enough, the head of Aramco, or one of the Saudi Govt
officials recently stated said it amuses them being challenged
about selling fossil fuels by the Western world - mostly the EU
member states - but at same time they are being pushed to ramp
up their output... If there was no demand, they wouldn't sell
it...

I think the issue is more about their human rights record target
than their oil production

Yeah, I don't think most people have that much of a problem with
a country selling oil. They might hope for "greener"
alternatives and make some token efforts to cut down on their
carbon emissions, but most people are fine with it.
They just don't think you should stone women to death

thats a given...
was more responding to Quinky's comment.
Just an opinion, but I do suspect in that vein, that if the
Saudi Public Investment Fund came knocking at the Stoop and we
could have a new stadium, spend to salary cap, pay for players
image rights offshore etc etc, a lot of supporters scruples
might be less entrenched...

Any club promoting inclusion and diversity, like we do with the
pride game, simply should not entertain the concept of Saudi
money full stop.
If Quins were offered a takeover, with vast sums of money
offered by the Saudis, I would hope it would be rejected.
Accepting the money with the knowledge of their human rights,
and open practices to the groups we apparently welcome to the
Stoop would be a disgusting betrayal in my eyes. Sure, financial
security is good for the club, but to take the money off a
nation who openly are happy to execute those of a different
sexuality? Madness.
I for one am glad our club wasn't mentioned.
But, if any club does accept the money with the whole naming
rights, I would love to see the new owners sit down and discuss
their backing behind the LGBQ+ pride games. That would be nice
to see, sheikhs holding the pride flags...

It's interesting to note where the supposed principles of virtue
signallers start and end. A few years ago, there was a hoo-ha
since homosexuality is illegal in Brunei. It came to light that
"somewhere" in the mass of business interests of the family of
the Sultan of Brunei, there are some hotels. Many people in the
industry tried to prompt and promote a boycott of said hotels.
But when it was pointed out that a far greater proportion of his
wealth/income was due to oil, and they were asked if they would
give up driving of flights... tumbleweed.
The stoning of women (for example) is not just cultural, it's
also religion based. Should all followers of such religions also
be ostracised?
