Quite right too. It was the same for us last year when people
accused Quins of not trying or caring when we were dire. It's
not on. It's abusive and rude.
I'm assuming that there will be people swearing around me and
shouting things they don't understand or questioning decisions
because they don't know the laws tomorrow at HQ.
I'm not one for the moral superiority over football stuff that
rugby people sometimes trot out, but there is a point where
we'll lose the connection between fans and players if we're not
careful.

I concur. The Bath fans can be a rabid lot if things are not
going their way. I've never heard such long, loud and prolonged
abuse of the officials as I have at The Rec when they are
losing.

The Shed this year was like a cess pit.
I try to go every year to Gloucester and always stand in the
shed. Whilst it can be rancorous it is usually done with some
sense of humour and with some knowledge of the laws of rugby.
This year it felt like that a number of the supporters wanted to
vent their spleens at anyone. Interestingly as the game wore on
the abuse changed from attacking Quins, then to the ref, then to
finally their own players.
To be fair a number of supporters were cross with the abuse
dished out to their own team but it was a marked change from
previous years.

I've noticed it a bit around us sometimes at the Stoop as well
last season, not quite so much this year but we've got a Friday
night game coming up and it's always worse then.
I've long accepted that no one in HQ knows anything about rugby,
but I'd happily go back to having those who just chat about
their immense wealth during the matches rather than shouting
stuff for reasons they don't clearly understand.
Accusing players of not caring or not trying is what got on
Brownie and Joe's nerves last year.
Honestly I think people have got so used to spouting bile on
twitter that when they come to a live sports event it's like
they don't realise the people playing can hear them or might
have an opinion.

Yep , Trevor Brennan , when he played for Toulouse , he jumped
in the crowd and hit a visiting Ulster fan breaking his jaw but
that was more to do more to do with Sectarian abuse than Rugby
He retired an opened an Irish Sports Bar in Toulouse , which is
/ was a good rugby venue ( I was last there is 2015) and his son
now plays for France U20 .
He happy to chat about ' those good old times ' over the bar .
