Doesn't matter what he spends it on if it counts towards the
cap.
I just think you're better off arguing with known facts rather
than speculation which can easily be dismissed.

Ok.
How many public schools are in the Quins catchment region?
And now you think Itoje was developed by a different club?
What was that about making a fool of yourself?

Do I? That's news to me. I really would feel like a fool if I'd
made that claim. Probably not as foolish as if I'd accused
someone of saying that on the evidence of "just made it up
because I keep taking a kicking on the internet", though.

Old Harrovian Oghenemaro Miles Itoje, played for Harpenden RFC
2005- 2011 and then Old Albanian RFC prior to joining Saracens
in 2012.
So I suspect one major public school, one more minor private
school, St George's Harpenden and two rugby clubs prior to
joining Saracens may have had a lot to do with his development
as a player.
Or maybe it was the wallpaper in his new house

That's extremely common, though. No one thinks that academy
products learn rugby just in the academy and have never played
for anyone else. You'll be hard pressed to find academy
graduates who haven't played for a couple of local clubs. It's
one of the better aspects of the sport, frankly.
Mike Brown played for Salisbury and Melksham RFC. Robshaw went
to Millfield and played for Warlingham RFC. Marler played for
Haywards Heath (as did Billy Twelvetrees, according to
Wikipedia).
It's not like when Saracens signed Mako from the Bristol
academy.

From memory, boys typically get invited into the Developing
Player Pathway at U13 or thereabouts, and combine schooling and
club rugby with a couple of evenings a month and occasional DPP
games. At U15 or U16, some of them graduate to the EPDG, and
then after A levels might get invited to join the Academy.
One of my son's schoolfriends followed that route and is in the
Quins academy while studying locally. Another moved abroad for a
couple of years, so missed out on the DPP route, but reutrned to
board at a top rugby school and played 6th form rugby and U18
internationals before going to Exeter Uni and joiniung the
Exeter Academy (but is mostly playing for uni in the BUCS
league).
The girls' setup is increasingly focused on club Centres of
Excellence, which are split between an EPDG-style relationship
directly with the club and affiliated 6th form colleges that run
the CofE programme onsite alongside A levels. Ms Poorfour Maj
is hoping to follow the latter route, but only time will tell.
