contract? Lots of if/buts/ and maybe’s.

Don't think so. Quins said something to the effect that they
would have loved to keep him but couldn't match Stade's offer
and he would be very welcome to return in the future.

So he got offered more money, at the time that he took it he was
not a regular England starter, so he decided to maximise his
earnings and move to France.
He is now more regular in the England side, wants to play for
his country but presumably we have no money/squad room for him
since we recruited Joseph and have Beard/Anyanwu/Northmore to
play 13 so we can't take him back.
Therefore he has to go elsewhere in England to be eligible for
the national side, and Sarries have offered him a contract.
Good luck to him. I'd love to see him back in the quarters and
maybe we will one day.

Unload one of those to make space for Nacho Ramjet...?

Sorry - I disagree. Anyanwu is a "work-in-progress", if & when
Andre moves on. Beard has done nothing wrong at all ! Northmore
makes a BIG difference and is a very good, intelligent player.
Also, they are all comparatively young, with their best to come.

Lots on here about Joe but nothing that I can see on the Sarries
board which is rather strange.

Not to mention comparatively cheap. None of them are capped
(yet), whereas Nacho is an established international who is on
big bucks in France.

To be fair, we rarely miss a player when they leave us. Most
academy players who leave us don't do that well elsewhere. Some
bigger name players we've lost in the past we've coped without
Ross, strettle, Johnston, sinckler, tizard, louw and now
marchant. It's more frustrating to see a home grown player join
a rival, or a player who we developed, like strettle, Ross and
Johnston. I guess that's just how the salary cap works, for most

The surprise has been how well we've done at replacing the
players we've lost with (largely) EQP and home developed talent.
If you compare the 2012 Final squad to the players who've come
through after them, I'm often amazed at what the club has
achieved in replacing the irreplaceable
Marler -> still Marler, with Baxter emerging
Gray -> Walker, Riley, Head, Jibulu
Johnston -> Collier (was on the bench that day), Sinckler and a
succession of decent overseas players (Bomb, Louw, Lewis)
Kohn -> Dino, erm, Launchbury
Robson -> Hammond
Fa'asavalu -> Chisholm (albeit held back by injury), CCS
Robshaw -> Evans, Kenningham
Easter -> Dombrandt
Care -> still Care
Evans -> Smith
Monye -> Lynagh
JTH -> ... possibly Anyanwu. But Andre is right up there in our
list of overseas acquisitions
Lowe -> Marchant, Northmore, Joseph, Beard
Williams -> Murley
Brown -> (could have still been Brown) David

Given Quins have nearly as many public schools in their
catchment area as all the other clubs in the Premiership have
combined, the number of England players they produce is rather
pitiful given the enormous conveyor belt of talent they have
exclusive access to.

Maybe they should just offer free houses? Or huge "personal
appearance" fees, where the players don't actually need to
appear? That seems to work in attracting players.
