Having not really thought about it properly until now - the 8
week gap coming up between matches could well be a huge factor.
Barring a couple of friendlies, that’s a long time with no rugby
- having momentum now basically counts for nothing. A slow start
back into the season end of March could easily end hopes of a
top 4 finish.

Without stating the obvious ( and then stating the obvious) I
don't think it's about who we have to play but how we play. I
have read people saying that Saints and Chiefs are on another
level to the rest of the Prem but equally I have heard people
say that about Quins on our day. Consistency is the biggest
challenge

The style of play that causes Quins the most problems is the one
shared by Sale, Saracens and Exeter - powerful sides with very
fast defensive lines (usually pushing the offside line to
breaking point) and an approach to the ruck that prioritises
high speed entry over staying on feet.
Absent a ref who doesn't agree that these tactics are legal,
Quins have been best at countering that style when they make it
hard for the defence to commit. The Sale game at home saw Marcus
kicking the ball away in promising positions early in the game,
which looked a bit aimless at first but over several passages of
play it became clear that it was causing Sale's defence to
hesitate and keeping their back three pendulum unsettled, which
paid off in the result.
Another big factor is fitness - the injury list from the Big
Game is a bit worrying given it included Marler, Lewies and Dino
- and if we're light on our power players we're vulnerable. And
as Sarries showed, if the ref doesn't like our maul defence, any
penalties leave us vulnerable to a score.

Thanks to all who voted - great to see that the biggest vote
came regarding 3rd/4th. As another thread has said we really
need to win all our home games + another away game to be sure of
a Top 4 finish.
