The RPA is a non-profit trade union.
This new firm look a lot like an agent looking to make a profit.

What’s your basis for saying that? It’s been set up by current
players and it’s pretty routine for a startup to use its
lawyers’ or accountants’ address as its registered office
(rather than rent space of its own).

The fact that it is a private company limited by guarantee with
a standard set of for-profit articles.
And the Trade Union and Labour Relations Act specifically
prevents a union from being incorporated as a company.
But apart from that, no, I do not have any evidence.

Fair enough. So it's not a trade union - but corporate form and
how a company is actually run are two different things. I've
worked with several non-profits that are incorporated as private
companies limited by guarantee for the flexibility that it
offers.
I guess we wil have to wait and see. I'm not sure what benefit
there is in turning a profit in an organisation like that; if
it's just another sports agency, it's not clear it offers any
advantage to the players over an existing one.
