Wondering what the general view is on either buying or selling
tickets at a profit or for high cost on these sites.

I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. I've heard and
       witnessed too many horror stories.

The general view is that if people refrained from conducting
transactions with them, they would go out of business.
The general view is that would be a good thing.
       Generally.

I have been stiffed by Seatwave, Get Me In and Viagogo. Tickets
for France v England in Paris a couple of years ago never turned
up, even after numerous promises that they would arrive, and
after travelling to Paris in hope. The other two occasions were
for gigs where the e-ticket had already been used when I turned
up at the venue. I got refunds for all of these (except of
course the travel/hotel expenses for Paris). These companies are
all scumbags and the sooner they go out of business the better.
Do not for one minute believe those positive reviews on
       Trustpilot.

I've used StubHub a few times, more in the US than the UK,
though. I've found them to be very good and prices reasonable.
Getmein also not too bad. Never used Seatwave.
But the one to absolutely avoid is Viagogo. Had a couple of
terrible experiences with them and their customer service is
       non-existent (something StubHub excel at).

I used viagogo to sell excess tickets a couple of times. I fixed
the price so I got back what I paid for them, but that meant
they were sold at a price higher than the original price,
obviously. If promoters made it easier to return tickets at
short notice, I'd rather use them.

It's definitely becoming more prevalent. I've bought tickets for
Eng v SA on the RFU ticket exchange. If clubs have ticket
selling platforms, adding re-selling is relatively
straightforward. I'm sure we'll see it becoming more prevalent
       quickly.

In a word don’t. If they are club tickets it is illegal to sell
them on there. My Local Club had tickets returned this week by
members and they were made available for other members.
