       Luke Wallace Leaving Quins

Harlequins have today confirmed Luke Wallace will depart the
Club at the end of December.
The Academy product and Club stalwart, who achieved 198
appearances over two stints, will call time on his Quins career
to explore further opportunities away from The Stoop.
The 33-year-old emerged in the senior team in 2011/12 making an
explosive impact in his first season. The flanker was nominated
for the Breakthrough and Discovery Player of the Season, before
captaining Quins to the A-League title and LV Cup title in
       2012/13.
Wallace had two spells away from Quins, joining Coventry in the
summer of 2019 before switching to Leicester Tigers ahead of the
2020/21 season. Wallace returned to the Club in May 2021 and
helped Quins secure their second Gallagher Premiership title.
A long-time servant and a man well-versed in the Quins Way,
Wallace is one of a select group of players to have helped lift
both the Men's Premiership titles in 2011/12 and 2020/21.
Commenting on his departure, Wallace said: “I have loved every
minute of representing this Club. I’ll obviously always remember
the big results, specifically lifting the two Premiership
trophies and the LV Cup, but I think my fondest memories will be
the wins away in Europe and the celebrations that followed with
       a great group of mates.
“I would like to thank my teammates, coaches, and staff for
their huge support throughout my career. Lastly a special
mention to the Quins faithful who have supported us through
       thick and thin.”
Director of Rugby Billy Millard added: “Luke has been an
incredible servant to our Club and the ultimate professional
over two very good stints. He’s been a true Harlequin and a
player that will be remembered for his work-rate and dedication,
leading from the front on and off the pitch. We wish Luke the
very best as he progresses into his next challenge.”

I had expected he'd retire at the end of the season, but I
assume that after all he's been through his body just won't
support the demands of playing any more.
It's great to see him finish his career with Quins and get a
proper send-off, and that he was able to have a good career even
       after that hip injury.
Thanks, Luke, and best of luck for the future.

Reads to me as though he wants game time that he isn't getting,
       not that he's retiring?

So, we're on the hunt for a winger then?

Can't tell from this if he's looking for another club, or
       non-rugby opportunities. I think he's been involved with a
       cycling team recently.
Anyway, best of luck to him. A great player at his peak and a
useful squad player in his second stint. Always seemed a nice
       guy too.

yeah, always liked Lukey. He looked like a Robshaw 2.0 when he
first came on the scene, shame injuries limited time for him.
Our back row is so competitive, so can't blame him. Not that it
should be about numbers but would like to have seen him get to
200 appearances, rather than bowing out on 198 but there'll be
       clubs out there for him.
Championship or League deux would benefit from having him.
All the best for the future.

RugbyPass has a bit more detail:
  HTML https://www.rugbypass.com/news/harlequins-confirm-departure-of-12-year-veteran/
Summarising, his contract was always through to the end of the
year and the return of our RWC players, he's a bit sad he didn't
get the chance to make it to 200 appearances, and he'd like to
play overseas before he retires fully.

Fine player and a really nice guy too. Wish him all the best in
       whatever he does next.
