it's important that clubs and sports stars show their support.
It matters to the people who are being supported to know that
they have allies, and it helps to change opinions and foster
acceptance, though admittedly sometimes all too slowly.

Can you please advise who isn't welcome at The Stoop? Aside from
       obnoxious Sarries fans.
I haven't heard of anyone being "subjected to prejudice,
intolerance and worse" at the ground. Certainly not for their
       sexual preferences.

As far as the club are concerned, everyone is welcome, as it
       should be.
But if I was a LGBTQ+ fan reading some of the responses to this
inclusive shirt being announced I'd possibly not feel the most
welcome. Thankfully it's a huge minority of people but sadly
they seem to be very loud.

People raising a question makes someone feel uncomfortable? Way
       to silence dissenters!
Ok, some of the comments above make me feel unwelcome at The
Stoop. How do you think we as a fan base can address that?

Nobody is silencing you. Even a post claiming that trans people
are mentally ill has remained up, so I'm pretty sure you're safe
from being kicked off the forum.
For people complaining that it's a gimmick that won't make any
difference, there are 2 points I'd ask them to consider:
       1) This is a measure that has been actively supported by the
Quins LGBT supporters' club - clearly those most affected by it
seem to think that it makes a difference, regardless of whether
       you agree or not.
       2) If your concern is really "Is this the best way to improve
life for LGBT+ people?", then for the majority of us there's not
an easy way to do that on a day-to-day basis - we're all people
cracking on with our lives, trying not to get in the way and
hopefully not making life difficult for too many people in the
process. So often the only way to demonstrate our support for a
cause, and hopefully improve things in our own minor way, is to
do just that - publicly support a cause. It's the same reason
why people demonstrate against wars or wear poppies or have an
       RSPCA sticker in their window.
And if you really think it's just a gimmick and won't make a
difference, but still care about the cause, then go and do more.

I'm pretty sure that if you were to hand out gold bars with
every ticket, a lot of fans would support that too.
It may interest you that some LGB people dislike thinks such as
Pride and other initiatives. They've spent a long time wanting
equal treatment, which they now have, and see no need or purpose
in celebrating what they are. As you allude to, they just want
to live their lives in peace.

That's fine too. If any LGBT people have a problem with what
Quins are doing, they are, of course, more than welcome to voice
       their displeasure.
I've just tried to look up statistics about attitudes of LGBT+
people about Pride events etc. and can't find much that's
relevant (beyond a 2013 study in America that shows around 3/4
think that they're helpful - not the best data to go on,
admittedly), but in the process came across the 2018 National
LGBT Survey, available on .gov. I won't start citing statistics
from it on here, but it makes for interesting and salient
       reading.

Tell me about my agenda - what is it for your perspective?
What's your interpretation of my POV and give me some context to
       acquiesce which I'll happily concede
Or perchance you could illustrate and articulate why women
should indulge the deviant cravings of men who have mental
       welfare issues ?
       I'm keen to learn
       Please.

       Fella (?)
If you just want to stand at the sidelines and spit at me like
an indulged entitled juvenile then fine. I'd prefer to engage in
some mature construct you might offer. I'm optimistic you might
be capable of this. Give it a go eh?
Have the courage of your convictions.

Well, back in the real world I don't believe the rugby crowds
that I've seen have a problem with LGBTQQIP2SAA folk (yes, I did
trawl the internet for the longest acronym I could find). There
may be people, as evinced on here, who have issues with the
concepts (e.g. there's no such thing as T), or the way some
entities have tried to accomodate people of different
persuasions (e.g. prison service and T men->women, sports clubs
and how to deal with men -> women). However, I don't believe
we'd make anyone unwelcome at the Stoop because of their
orientation. The fact the club supports these people to make our
club "inclusive" is something to be admired, in my view.
We are united by our support of Harlequins, what we do or don't
do with our bits, what we define ourselves as, the pronouns we
use may be important or an issue in everyday life, but when you
come to support Harlequins you're just another fan! That's how I
want my club to be! That's what my club wants to be!
