From memory, we don’t usually carry that big a squad - but I
suspect we have quite a few players who will retire and not be
replaced at the end of their current contracts. The current
leadership team have been pretty good at long term planning -
though their plans were probably accelerated by the clubs
folding last year, which means we’re ahead of schedule on
recruitment.

It will be interesting to see what they do about dual reg or
loan players.
Some clubs have pretty strong ties with Championship teams
(Quins/LS, Chiefs/Pirates, Gloucester/Hartpury, etc).
You could argue that a lot of players in our squad are in
reality London Scottish players (e.g. Cameron Anderson)
I wonder if we will just share our squads around so that we
adhere to the numbers without anything actually changing.
For info our Squad size is currently 76.

The article says we have 47 in the senior squad, so that would
be quite a size reduction (roughly a quarter).

Begs the question: why are we paying them to train and watch?

I have just gone through our list. I think that we have:
18 Rookies - needs to be reduced by 3
16 Academy - needs to be reduced by 4
39 Senior - needs to be reduced by 4
2 Medical Jokers - I assume that these will still be needed
1 short term deal to cover World Cup
[Reduced Senior squad by 1 due to Max Green. I don't know if he
is still with us.]

I have just looked at the senior squad.
From what I can see, every single one has played so far this
season.
Quite a few only played in the Prem Cup - but, these games still
need to be played, so you do need a suitable squad size to cover
these games.

Because you don't know when a player will be injured and we will
need to call on one of them. We've had seasons where we had all
our hookers pick up serious injuries and we had to rely on
academy players, and seasons where which locks played was a
question of which ones were least badly crocked at any point in
time.
