With Sinkler looking like he may be leaving, Bristol are
interested in signing Lovejoy
Did he only come in on a one year contract with us? Think I
heard that Cunningham-South was only a year is that correct?

I think Lovejoy actually came in as injury cover for Collier.

Actually - it was for Kerrod
"Chandler Cunningham-South is understood to have been brought in
as injury cover for James Chisholm, with Lovejoy Chawatama
acquired using the dispensation yielded by Simon Kerrod’s
lay-off after ankle surgery. Both former Exiles will be eager to
prove themselves and earn longer stays."

Both need to be tied down to deals sharpish.
CCS has had a big impact already, and with Collier probably off
he may be swayed with more game time promise. As a straight up
choice id sacrifice James and Simon if it meant keeping them

Have people seen enough of Lovejoy to say we definitely need to
keep him? With Kerrod covering loose head too I'd say he's more
of a priority

One point about Simon though - he plays both sides of the scrum
- which is pretty handy.
Second point - your view that James is a complete waste of space
are well known :-)
(He had a good game on Friday night though. Good line breaks and
at least two turnovers.)

Thanks, I couldn't remember the details but had a vague
recollection they were signed as cover.

I imagine we will trim Els and SGB for next season anyway, so
wouldn't be surprised if we kept Kerrod for his versatility.
As a straight out choice, CCS would be better to keep than
James. He has age on his side and is very much on an upward
trajectory. James still has his place though if we can afford
both, as again players like White/Wallace will I imagine be
jettisoned next season.

After Evans though - Wallace is our only out and out jackaler. I
think that he is probably on a fairly small salary and probably
is quite a good insurance policy in light of Will's injury
record.
Although maybe long term, Kenners could go for that roll.

Wallace is 33, Lawday 30, Chisholm 28 (though with a fair amount
of hard miles on the clock), White is 26 and CCS is 20.
Kenningham is 24, Evans 26 and Alikhan and Trenholm 22.
I'd not be surprised to see one, possibly two, of the older 3
retire - they have all had their knocks. White is listed as the
3rd No 8, so we're unlikely to let him go unless we're bringing
someone else up from the academy or outside (though I suspect
CCS solves for that).
I'd hope keeping CCS is a priority; he will be in demand, but
given he and Dommers have already shown they can play well
together I think he slots very nicely in as a successor to
Lawday and Chis in the 6/8 role.
We've currently got 9 props, which allowing for injury and call
ups feels about right. Anyone we lose will need to be replaced,
and of the Academy players only Hobson looks ready to step up
next year. Marler is a couple of years older (and apparently
retiring at the end of next season), Baxter and Osborne are
babies, Lewis and Els are mid 20s, and the other 4 are all
30-31. They should all have another couple of years in them, so
I'd hope we hang on to as many as we can.
