Why no card…citing?

How on earth did Hill not get a card last night?
Watching the replay it doesn’t look good at all and a total over
reaction

I was sitting a few yards away and I was seriously concerned for
CCS!
Hill pinned him to the floor, with his forearm to CCS's throat
for a worrying length of time.
I couldn't believe it wasn't a red card.

Can’t see that not getting some kind of follow up. Very
dangerous and could have caused CCS serious harm.

I am also pretty sure that Dommers was pulled to the ground (off
the ball) just after Reid’s deliberate knock on. Haven’t seen a
replay so going by what I saw from South Stand.

I am a real outlier judging by here and Twitter - I don't think
it's more than a penalty. He pins CCS by the throat, but that's
it - doesn't strike him, doesn't do any damage - and it's not
something I don't see happen fairly regularly. Just handbags.
CCS seemed to make sure he fell on Warr to begin with so he's
not completely blameless to me either.

I was surprised it wasn’t a card as it was a completely
unprovoked reaction from Hill, but perhaps the ref thought it
looked worse than what it actually was, with the collapse of the
side hoardings?
Still, in front of SB I don’t think any of Sales potential
England players made a positive case

Surely he has to be cited, Johnny Hill was applying his weight
and force on CCS throat, it’s a criminal offence outside rugby.
It could have ended a lot worse, who remembers the Demetri
Catrakillis injury.

I was half expecting a yellow and wondered if the fact they were
already down to 14 was a factor for the ref. There's no way it
should be a citing though.
The 'outisde rugby' point just doesn't work. I could perform a
textbook tackle from a 5m run-up on an old granny in the street
which would be a criminal offence. In theory at least; she'd
likely sidestep me and fend my face with her handbag.

Well put and I get it, and also that a tackle would be within
the laws of the game. The throatgate incident is not in the laws
of the game,it was not in play and also outside the playing
area. It was a very dangerous action by a player who should know
better after representing his country.

Not sure I get the logic, given his discipline while playing for
England (entirely in keeping with Eddie Jones's demands, too)
