Unfortunately we were also well whupped by chiefs away. 43-zip
Came back with a decent win v Gloucester so I’m confident we’ll
do well next week against <checks notes> Stade Français. Ah ffs

Just noticed he also did it at the lineout where Joseph ended up
scoring, which I can't explain.

Yes - I was reliably informed by the "man in the pub" that we'd
lose by 20 - so a 53 pt error here, Maidstone...
Back to the drawing board old chap - time to refine the flux
capacitors.

Here are the after match comments from the bosses:-
"Harlequins director of rugby Billy Millard told TNT Sports:
"We had a big week, we put a lot of emphasis on this game.
"We weren't happy with our performance here against Sarries, so
the chat was good all week, but we backed it up.
"Everyone talks about our DNA, but that only comes alive if
we're physical, and we were up against the most physical team,
so it was a bit of a man test, some pretty eye-to-eye words and
the boys took hold of it.
"On the back of sticking to the gameplan, having that
physicality, we had a few Quins moments."
Sale director of rugby Alex Sanderson told TNT Sports:
"We're humbled, as you are after every defeat, but never more
humbled than when you are at the Stoop because they rub it in
your faces.
"I thought Harlequins were brilliant tonight, they beat us in
every area barring the scrum, so they were deserving of that
victory.
"What I think it shows is for the second time this season when
you're a couple of inches in your head, when you're off it in
those top two inches, you're miles off it on the scoreboard, and
that's the competition as it is.
"You've got to be right mentally otherwise you're losing all the
collisions, losing the kicking battles, and you end up having a
long ride home licking your wounds."
-------------------------
As to Millard: the challenge is to get the team to play like
this every week.
For those who wish to criticise Sanderson, I'd say that he
admits, in his second sentence, that Quins outplayed them - I
don't see him being mealy-mouthed because he opened up with
"because they rub it in your faces": he just means that they
were well beaten, not that our lads waved tissues in their faces
or whatever. It's just saying we rubbed their faces in it - as
in well beaten, not that we taunted them and made them feel
inadequate (or whatever!)...

Hard luck - not Sale's night. But at least your other team won.

State Francais aren't special - not sure where you're playing,
but Sale have a good chance there/Manchester. Not the same as
away to Racing...

Reading his comments back I think Sanderson just meant that if
you are off your game against Quins they will punish you with
tries, but he just can’t help coming across as not liking us one
bit.
He’s right, though, it’s a game of small margins. Sarries
victory was built on their maul and their defensive line speed,
and once Quins had lost those battles we were open for the
taking. Sale expected to be able to impose their defensive
model, but the switching between runs and kicks (which looked a
bit unambitious at first) stopped them from fully committing and
Quins grew into exploiting the game.
We will have to be similarly canny and on the ball in the next
few games to maintain that momentum.
