I suppose you're best buddies with him, so apologies on
questioning your mighty wisdom. Now if Marcus or any other Quin
said the same as him, we all know what disgusting comments you'd
make.

That's another outright lie. Please try to read what is written.
How are you this dense? The reason given by Farrell for
withdrawing is to concentrate on his and his family's mental
health. That is the basis of what I'm saying. I absolutely and
unequivocally believe that he is being honest.
The suggestion I am making is that the idea being floated (not
by Farrell!) that it's solely because of criticism and abuse on
social media is probably not enough to cause him to do this. As
I've tried to explain to you in very small words, I believe
something more serious happened beyond regular abuse that badly
impacted him and his family. The stories coming out from the
refs talking about threats made to their kids schools, the
prevalence of creepy stalkers, the willingness of people to make
things personal for the family - that is exactly the sort of
thing I can see happening that would really get to a guy like
Farrell and his family, understandably.
Given how terse the statement was, and his reluctance to discuss
it further, we'll likely never know the specifics and that's
fair enough, it's clearly very personal and he is competely
entitled to his privacy. It's a sad situation and he has my full
sympathy. Dealing with psycho obsessives is exhausting and
unfortunately professional sport really seems to bring them out
of the woodwork.

This little discussion aside..
Given we know Wayne Barnes received death threats, and his wife
received rape threats and threats to harm their kids, saying
they knew where he lives - it's not that much of a stretch to
see why Farrell may have issues with his mental health relating
to himself and his family's wellbeing after the world cup,
during which he was subjected to the most appalling endless
online abuse.
A reminder that we sadly live in a world where people,
particularly young people, have ended their own lives due to
online abuse and bullying.
So, yes, we'll never know. But no, there doesn't have to be more
going on that what we know about - which was bad enough frankly.
Mainly it's none of our business.
