It's also a quite remarkable claim and one I'd love to read more
about, especially given that Saracens famously chose relegation
over an audit

Indeed. It seems rather odd that someone should boast that their
team are under extremely high scrutiny.

Many years ago - before the great financial inquest and
subsequent relegation - I did a match report for the old site
on a Sarries v Quins game at Wembley. We lost, no surprise there
then. It was that game where Jack Clifford scored in the first
minute and we took that to mean we could have the rest of the
afternoon off. DOK dutifully posted my report. I also sent him
a spoof flyer for a Saracens' 20 Golden Greats Album, claiming
I'd found it under my seat. I'd added the Sarries and Two Tone
logos and some stray footprints and beer stains to make it look
authentic. DOK reckoned he couldn't access the file that I'd
sent him. Phooey - he was just afraid of being sued for
defamation, and probably rightly so. He may just have not found
it funny of course. But.... I've found the text of what I wrote
and (a) it's juvenile; (b) quite prescient, although you didn't
have to be Nostradamus to predict that they were cooking the
books; but (c) still makes me laugh....and laughing at your own
gags is as low as it gets, albeit some people have built careers
out of it. This just seems like a good time to publish and be
damned.
For historical background it coincided with everyone then
joining Sarries telling the press that something "special" was
going on at Sarries....we now know how special. Chris Ashton
was on their books and had just been banned for 10 weeks either
for gouging, hair pulling or being late with his tax return.

There's been only three of these audits completed so far.
Saracens passed the same test that Harlequins did so talk of
continued cheating by Quins fans, amusing though it is, is a
little salty.
And the checks are anything but standard.

They produce winners - in house. You only have to see how
average players who leave Saracens for other clubs become and
conversely how good they get when they join from other clubs. As
long as people like you keep thinking that it's just money that
causes that then the longer you won't understand and the longer
Saracens keep winning.

I see what you did there.
