Stephan Lewies

I might have missed something, but does anybody know what's
wrong with him this time?
I remain a big fan of Lewies when he plays, but at what point do
the club have to sadly admit defeat and spend his chunk of the
cap elsewhere?
I can't remember the last time he even played 3 games in as many
months.

I understand he has some kind of ACL injury from a training
incident with Simon Kerrod, an accidental clash between knees.
Hopefully back very soon 🤞

That's interesting. Assuming this one is totally unrelated then,
to whatever it was that kept him out of action for so long
previously?! I don't know what the last one was but for some
reason I'm sure it wasn't leg related.
Either way, I think this could (and probably should) be his last
chance to recover and put a run of games together. Hopefully he
does, he's pretty handy when fit.

We have a lot of depth at lock now, he is a great player but
would he be missed ?

He managed to play a pre season game then disappeared again.
Annoyingly his only other appearance this season was for the
Barbarians.
I think this may be his last season for us which will be quite
sad as he’s a good player, leader and from the little I know of
him person.

Maybe that is the case and they're managing the story for when
he's ready to announce. Would love to see him stay in a coaching
capacity.

Fingers crossed for Stephan to make a full recovery, but a
coaching could be a possibility. It’s clear that he makes a big
impact off the pitch even when he’s unable to be on it.
In terms of our depth at Lock we have:
Joe Launchbury (32)
Stephan Lewies (31)
Irne Herbst (30)
Dino Lamb (25)
George Hammond (23)
Mata Jurevicius (23)
Which in an area we have previously struggled looks as strong as
I can remember. In the Academy we have Harry Browne, Jonny
Green, Tom Golder, Theo Currie and Mattias Woollard. I think
Golder might end up at 6, and don’t know anything about Woollard
other than he joined through a connection with the University of
Surrey, but there’s a lot of potential in that list.
I do wonder, if we’re recruiting at Lock for next season, if we
might look to shepherd a certain wayward sheep back into the
flock... A Tizard – Hammond second row always looked to have
massive potential to me.

He was in the Debenture Lounge before the Newcastle game and
said something about straining his ACL I think.
