That's amazing! Some teams played 33 games in 39 weeks and never
got a week off. I doff my cap. 😁

PRC can't really be included in this - it was designed to be a
competition for teams to field squad players in, not something
you'd want to play your strongest team in every week.
Judging by the Quins site, they played their first match on the
1st September 2018 through to the beginning of November, then it
was PRC where we picked a rank 2nd/3rd team as would be
expected. Back to Premiership action on the 16th until Europe on
the 8th Dec, then a break after the Euro cup on the 18th until
the PRC on the 26th Jan then nothing until the 16th Feb.
So yeah, not many completely fallow weekends but plenty of
opportunity to rest players from frontline duty.

So to Tigerburnie's point, there weren't any breaks for the
clubs. There will have been breaks for individual players but in
late August every club had to be ready to field a team every
weekend until early June*.
As it happens, one team made it to all 3 finals that season.
Yes, yes we know they cheated to make that possible (not my
point). However, Saints also got to the PRC final, Challenge Cup
QF and Prem SF so only missed 3 games from the 39.
There is also a stretch from 15/2-1/6/19 where the only rest
from Prem or Euro games is the PRC final. That's 14 out of 15
weeks on the spin with potentially no break. I bet Lam wasn't
complaining then.

each team only played once so that was another week off for each

I think it depends really.
Sometimes we field a team of academy players.
One season (under Gustard) we fielded a pretty strong team as he
wanted to use the matches to gain momentum in going into the
normal league games.
But, from a stats point of view, the PRC games count as full
capped games.

Sometimes 1st XV players are coming back from injury and play.
Plus even if you’re not playing your 1st XV players, you’re
possibly playing the bench so they’re not getting a rest. It’s
rare to see a PRC squad that is all academy.
And regardless, there’s still that period from February to June
where there was only one week for the PRC.

Squads aren't 23 players plus the academy. There's no need for a
club to field an entire academy 23 in order to rest players.
The point is that the PRC games aren't taken seriously,
regardless of their status. And that's what Pat Lam said - 16
weeks until they get a rest, i.e. the PRC starts up again. And
it's not just playing, it's training too; 16 weeks of full on
intensity without a break.
People pointing out that everyone knew this before the season
started is one thing but claiming this happens every year just
isn't true.

Pat Lam put out the full 1st XV (albeit minus those in France)
against Cambridge - at a point when Bristol could not make the
finals. He could easily have put out the senior academy side, or
fringe players, but did not trust them to beat part-timers.
If he does not rest players against his weakest opposition, when
could he rest them.

Didn’t trust them? Do me a favour 😁! He didn’t give a
toss. The PRC was pre-season training for all the Premiership
teams and they approached it as they saw fit.
