I have PTSD over that and the JK era. I actually emailed David
Ellis to tell him what a crap job he was doing at the club. I
ended up having a meeting with him in his office about it all.
Guy was utterly clueless

I did the same but had a phone call with him where he talked at
me for half an hour without addressing any of the points I'd
made so I have he same opinion as you on this. As you've said in
the past, even a stopped clock is right twice a day [emoji6]

I had some interaction with Laurie over an anomaly that I found
in the Prem rules that would have allowed a relegated Sarries to
overpay their players when in the Championship and keep them
under the salary cap in the year that they were promoted. I
found Laurie straightforward and easy to deal with.

Laurie from what I've seen comes across far more relatable and
genuine.
David was all smoke and mirrors, and in my view had some fairly
narcissistic traits. Came across fairly arrogant as in he knew
best and if you didn't see the vision he had you obviously were
of lesser importance/intelligence, also without having much
empathy in respect to the unrest within the fanbase.

Just had a chance to watch the game through, and had a look at
the interesting stats on the Premiership Rugby site

Comfortable win despite only having 50% possession and 47%
territory. The match reinforced my view that we have
significantly changed our game plan this season: much less
attack from anywhere at all costs, but with significantly
improved defence and plenty of kicking from hand. For example we
beat fewer defenders than Falcons, made fewer passes, fewer
metres gained and fewer offloads. We kicked from hand nearly
twice as much as Falcons for almost twice the distance. We made
more tackles with a similar success rate but made a lot more
turnovers whilst conceding far fewer.
Set pieces were pretty solid, with just the scrum wobbles when
the front row replacements (who I suspect had never scrummaged
together in a match before) came on and we had Lamb in the bin.
We were extremely clinical in converting territory into points
(40pts from 9 entries to the 22 against 12pts from 7!)
If we can successfully integrate the world cup returnees into
the squad (not simple given they missed pre-season) and get some
of the key injured back, we could be a force this season -
despite being a bit more pragmatic than the all-singing and
all-dancing entertainers of previous years.

40 points from 9 entries is seriously impressive. If we can keep
being that clinical it will be a good season.
