Let’s not forget that Andre picked up 2 red cards in his first
season. But equally, we know they are both capable of playing
       very well.

Even our great NEv had a few off days, I remember. Agree about
George Lowe (always consistent). I say we must give Lennox a
       chance

Lowe's first couple of games were really bad - knock-on central.

Not sure what game everyone hating on Lenny was watching. Hardly
had a terrible game; kicked a great 50:22, got us over the gain
line multiple times, and, apart from two lines breaks, I can’t
remember a significantly more experienced Bristol midfield going
through us or dominating us. Yes he got stuck in no man’s land
for their first try but it was incredibly well worked by
       Bristol.
I doubt He and Beard have started more than a couple of games
together so maybe cut them slack and enjoy a hard fought victory
with the spine of our team missing and our newbies showing great
signs of depth and that they’ve settled quickly. With Marler,
Walker, Lewis, Lewies (if we can really count on him anymore),
Cunningham South, Care, Smith, Murley, Esterhuizen, Northmore
and Joseph missing, it feels like really positive start.

Went to this yesterday. One for the purists but really promising
       performance IMO.
Our centres were fine. Beard had a really good game, has a huge
boot on him. Lenny hit a 50-22 that was essentially worth three
points. Other than one well executed move, Vakatawa and Van
       Rensburg were kept very quiet.
Conditions were awful. We completely controlled the first 20
mins when they weren’t and should have been more than 13 up. WEV
had an awful day, dropped a try over the line, nothing on the
ground, binned after 29 mins and hooked at 50. Had he held on to
the try, we’d have been value for 17-0 after 20 mins.
Then the conditions deteriorated and both teams made loads of
mistakes and it became a really even if mistake ridden game.
Their two tries were one excellent bit of skill from Thacker
(who I have always thought would be a natural harlequin,
excellent player) and a set move to exploit a defence that was
a man down. They got 8 points in the bin period which kept it
closer up to half time than it might have been.
Difference early on was control in possession I think. Sheedy
made some awful decisions for them, and Porter / Evans made more
better ones, especially early, and we had all of the ball for 20
mins as a result. The former was excellent again and looks like
a real long term answer after Care leaves.
Some good captaincy from Dombrandt too. Had an easy three which
we turned down, and then pushed Hammond over after a 10m scrum,
just as the rain was about to ruin the game for both sides.
All in all, that is a game that I think last year, we definitely
lose. Remember getting pumped there last year? We won that
playing very pragmatically in very poor conditions and taking
what was on offer. It was very unlike us, but four points banked
and they are all worth the same.
We are one terrible refereeing decision at kingsholm away from
being 3/3 with a galaxy of stars missing, including a win over a
red hot chiefs side. Can’t complain really.

In context, anyone on here would have grabbed a
win-no-matter-what before yesterday given we were away from home
and Bristol had started the season well. Did it without a
decent number of first-teamers too. Of course it wasn't
perfect, but we didn't need to be.
Think Beard could be a real gem for us. Deceptively strong and
quick, got a bit of aggression too. Launchberry just adding
       levels to our maul game.
Porter has been really good too - he's got a great boot and
rapid pass from the base. Dare I say it but defence has been
better too. Roll on Falcons next week.

Went to the game, was great fun, personally thought the boys did
really well, lots of youngsters on display, slippery
conditions...had no problem with Lenny..or any of the team tbh!
Going to Bristol and coming away with 4 points is NEVER to be
       sniffed at!!!!

I don't think anyone is agitating for Lenny to be discarded,
just needs to work on parts of his game. World Champion, Andre,
has more variation and doesn't just run head down into contact.
He balances it with passes, kicks and offloads and sometimes
pops up on the wing on the end of moves.
nEV needs to focus on that with him and his decision making.
Defence was good and anyone can get flat-footed by a smart move.
Don't just rely on his bulk, work on the more delicate parts of
       the game.

Eh, MQ has made it very clear he thinks Anyanwu isn't good
enough to play for Quins. "Pedestrian." "Not up to it".
       Variations thereof.

A bit tough on Lennox for some people to be writing him already,
didn’t he win MOM in a game last season and was then dropped for
the next game. The conditions were shocking yesterday but I
actually thought he did ok. Give him time and I think he will be
       a natural successor to Andre.

Beard's reading of the game stands out for me. He rarely seems
to be caught out of position, whether at 13 or wing.
Until yesterday's game I hadn't clocked how big his boot was.
With Northmore out we might be seeing more of him over the next
couple of months. Can see him nabbing the utility back spot on
       the bench.
