How can a club that had such debts now afford this? And what
complete fool would bother to invest in a club franchise that
has failed to be a viable and sustainable financial investment
twice before?
I have nothing (apart from the old rivalry) against them but
think this is madness.

Is Gillingham near you, MQ ? Sorry, my geography is not great.
Anyway, I am horrified that they want to continue to
"cannibalise" Warriors' facilities at Sixways ! I was born &
brought up in the Worcester area and they were my 2nd club.
Before she died in February this year, I used to go many times
over many years with my mother to Sixways ... she loved it !

I am not sure that they are football mad, football lukewarm,
perhaps.
Gillingham attracts about 6,000 fans.
Which is more than Championship rugby, but low for Soccer.
As to how can they afford it.
First, they are not the company that had £95m in debt - they are
just some random bloke who has bought the name from the
administrators and never had those debts. They are certainly not
the club that split from Hampstead, that is Wasps FC which still
exists and play in COunties 2 Herts/Mddx.
Second, they probably can not afford it. It is a pipedream, like
the earlier plan of a new stadium on the M40 corridor. They are
a property developer, and it may be a way of getting planning
permission to biuld houses on the land round the site.
They claim to be talking to Sevenoaks council, I am sure they
are. That is not the same as the council actually granting them
planning permission.

With the number of traveller sites nearby, and Wasps recent
nomadic nature, would it be a problem for planning?

Yeah its not far, about 8 miles or so. Gillingham is a bit of a
dive as well..Canterbury would probably be best location out of
anywhere in Kent to give it a go as more likely to attract fans
than in a football heartland.

I think possibly Saracens. Only because when I've seen their
academy line ups mentioning their schools, a few of them have
been Kent ones

Property Developer chancers with a half decent PR person hoping
to extract funding from local authority. Not a snowflake in
hells chance and another insult to a magnificent old rugby
institution.

Sevenoaks makes sense as a location, if you're prepared to
invest in building the fanbase. It's got no major winter sports
team nearby, is easily accessible by train from London, is
surrounded by rugby playing schools and has a population who are
relatively wealthy.
There's no natural competition, so if you're prepared to play a
long game and build the fanbase, it could work. A lot will
depend on whether they can assemble a ground and team to match
the brand. It will only work if potential supporters buy into
the story of resurrecting a famous team (however tenuous that
actually is)
