The Premiership is finally back!
HTML https://www.quins.co.uk/article/harlequins-name-squad-to-face-gloucester
Harlequins have named its matchday squad for Saturday's opening
Gallagher Premiership fixture against Gloucester Rugby at
Kingsholm (KO 14:00 - Live on PRTV).
Alex Dombrandt will captain the squad in the absence of Stephan
Lewies, with Welsh fly-half Jarrod Evans named to make his
Harlequins debut from the bench.
The forward pack boasts 551 first-team appearances, with Fin
Baxter and Will Collier locking down alongside Sam Riley in the
front-row. The experienced Joe Launchbury combines with George
Hammond at lock, with flankers Jack Kenningham and Will Evans
joining Alex Dombrandt in the back-row.
Will Porter makes his Premiership debut for Quins at scrum-half,
forming an exciting partnership with playmaker Will Edwards.
Luke Northmore and Will Joseph start at inside and outside
centre, with Louis Lynagh and Tyrone Green named on the wings.
The versatile Nick David starts at fullback.
Amongst the Impact Players, prop Lovejoy Chawatama and
scrum-half Max Green will make their first Premiership
appearance for Quins, with Academy hooker Nathan Jibulu also in
line for his top-flight debut.
Director of Rugby Billy Millard commented: "Opening the season
against Gloucester is a great challenge. It's a tough venue but
we have prepared strongly during the week and we're expecting a

So Lewies managed one game before picking up another injury.
Poor bloke.

Overall in the circumstances a good team on paper, but we
learned last week a good team on paper doesn't equate to
success.
Would have preferred Chisholm starting as I think he gets over
the gain line better personally which is important to get on the
front foot.
Interesting Evans on the bench, probably not up to speed yet
though.
Lets hope we avenge last seasons defeat at Kingsholm, but as
ever will be a tough one, especially if we play even 50% of the
way we did last week.

Plenty of youth and not so much experience. I like that.
Hopefully they'll be out to prove a point.
Seems like Steph has continued his form of playing a game then
being unavailable. Shame. I hope it's not serious.

Is that really the case? It's a fairly young squad in years, but
not inexperienced given who's away. You've got 9 players in the
squad with 40 or more caps for Quins, and 8 who were part of the
Prem winning squad. Launchbury, Porter, Joseph and Evans are new
to Quins but experienced players. The only real newbies are
Green and Jibulu.

Are Murley and CCS unavailable because they are injured or
because of their relative England (training squad/u20s)
commitments over the summer?

Jarrod Evans went off with what appeared to be an ankle injury
against the Baa Baas and I’m surprised to even see him on the
bench. Hopefully he’s recovered enough to make his debut.

Fair points. Maybe it just seems that way as a) it's been a
while since our last Prem game, b) there are a number of faces
new or relatively new to a Quin's shirt, and c) we usually list
players like DC and Marler who boast something close to 1,400
appearances between them 😁
