Is Ealings push for the big time viable without a sugar daddy?

I wonder if there is a plan for when he steps aside? I think he
is 87 years young at the moment - so, I assume that he will want
to hand over the reigns at some point.

Average attendance last season of 994. I think they'd struggle.

I imagine unless they get promotion and the ground situation
worked out, I will be surprised if Ealing as a championship team
exist in a few seasons. Financially they must be suffering
massive losses with their wage bill compared to overall income,
so if there isn't any reward so to speak, I imagine the funding
       will certainly be reviewed..

This is where the rules need to be set, sustainability (not the
solar panel type) can the club sustain it self financially and
we’d have to say Ealing has no chance. They will never have a
big enough fan base to get turnover of ticket sales, shirts etc
and will always rely solely on a sugar daddy. Not good for the
       club or the game.

It's the fans and the players lose out.
Once someone gets tired of losing money every year with little
glitz and glamour to show for it, the chances of the club
meeting wages and other outgoings put administration on the
table and then the fans lose a club they've supported for years.
If the club is lucky enough to stay afloat, then the players
will most likely find themselves at the job centre if there
       isn't any suitable contract agreements.

If you told all clubs that rely on sugar daddies to stop, you
would lose all the Premiership and half the Championship.

The difficulty is when you include the money from sponsors in
       the sustainability calculation.
As we all well know, Nigel Wray (and his money) now have
absolutely nothing to do with Saracens.
However, there are two principal partners who do sponsor
Saracens (Simba & Hy-Pro). Wray is a director of these
       companies.
So, basically, a sugar-daddy can make a club appear to be
       sustainable.
Ditto - Tony Rowe and South West Communications at Exeter Chiefs
       a few years back.
If your sponsors inject a lot of money into the club for
advertising, it can make your club appear to be profitable.

But until quite recently, most clubs were genuinely working
towards sustainability and a few were even making a profit.
Sustainable losses in service to a reasonable business are quite
different to the vanity project pipedream of a rich bloke
turning a village team into a Premiership side without the
       infrastructure to support it.

Playing devils advocaat, would that actually be so terrible in
the long run? Have a complete reset and re-build the whole thing
       properly?
