Yeah - and I think that also makes us pool winners.
The japan v Arg match could be interesting.
it is a shame that Lemeki is no longer at Honda Heat. It would
be nice to see what he could do as a loan player for Quins for a
few games

Another hurty head but I think so too.
Currently, it's:
Eng 14
Jap 9
Sam 6
Arg 4 - probably 9 after the Chile game
Worst case, I think would be that we get nothing from the Samoa
game and one of Japan or Argentina gets the full 5. That would
leave us and the winner of Jap v Arg on 14 (the other on - at
most - 11, Samoa on - at most - 11).
Because we beat both Argentina and Japan, whichever one matches
our 14 points would still be behind us.

England are confirmed as pool winners - one of Argentina and
Japan could end on 14 points, but since England have won against
both of them it doesn't matter. England would be top even if
they lose to Samoa with no BP.
Japan will definitely be targeting Argentina now. It looked like
a tough pool for them but their fitness means they could
pressure Argentina with a rush defence in much the same way that
England did. It would be good to see them make the QFs again -
it would be the first time since 2007 that two Tier 2 teams have
made the QFs (though it was Fiji and Argentina at that point, a
little way before Argentina joined the RC - before that you have
to go back to 1991).

I know that Japan are now to be given Tier 1 status as well,
which I think is good but they need to work out how these can
get these sides playing the bigger sides regularly. Enough
pussy-footing around, grow a pair world rugby and make this
work.

I think the plan is that summer tours will include at least one
match against a Tier 2 nation - not sure if anything is being
done about AIs.

Yes, WR are pushing for the summer/autumn internationals to be
changed. The Summer tours will change so that instead of a NH
side touring a specific SH country, from 2026 forward the plan
is for, say, England to play a game against each of Australia,
New Zealand and Japan for example. Wales could play Argentina,
SA, and Japan, Scotland vs SA, Aus & Fiji, Ireland against NZ,
Fiji & Argentina, etc, etc, etc...
While this looks good in respect of getting regular games for
the likes of Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Japan, etc, it will basically
kill spectator touring from NH to SH particularly. I was lucky
enough to follow the tour to Australia last year, and for a
single country alone, it cost roughly £5k for me. If you try to
tour three countries under the new plans, that'll make it a lot
more expensive in terms of flights alone given the large
geographical spread of the SH sides.. SH supporters coming up
North for the Autumn series have it far easier. If an ABs
supporter wants to follow his side playing against Wales, Italy,
Ireland & France, that's a shedload easier & cheaper.

So good intent from WR, but poor execution. Why not have 2 tests
against ABs and then two against Japan or have the 3 in a round
robin in one country or another?

It's all part of the idea of the "Nations Series" where the AIs
become a sort of mini world cup of their own. The 6 Nations,
Rugby Championship and Summer Internationals would all count
towards seedings for a set of games in November/December to
decide the best team of that year. As such, they need the Summer
Internationals to be spread out, rather than bunched between
fixed opponents. The only glimmer of a bright side I've heard so
far is that they *might* start off by having the touring NH side
based in a SH country/region & have the SH sides visiting them.
So, England could possible play against SA, Argentina, Samoa &
NZ in, say NZ. Still not great for the touring fans in my
opinion.
