Oddly I think keeping a coach on who has had such a short time
to turn around the fortunes of the team is the correct approach.
However to completely contradict that I have no confidence that
Borthwick is the right guy to do it. He does not attract the
best coaches to support him.

It makes some sense to stay with the Coach no matter what
happens after only such a small time in the role.
If his gameplans, tactics and individual player selections
remain unchanged and results are poor then, well, he has to go.

The main thing about Borthwick is there isn’t any improvement -
anywhere. It’s the worst rugby I’ve ever seen us play, much
worse than Jones before he left. He has poor coaches, and
limited ideas.
I also don’t buy in to all the pundits saying the squad has a
lot of talent. No it does not!
Of the players in the squad, I’d only consider Marcus, Arundell,
Mitchell, Curry (when fit) Willis, Chessum, Marchant and
probably Genge as players who have talent, and even then it’s in
some cases raw and still unproven or it’s not been seen enough.
When there’s a poll asking if SB should stay, it’s fairly
telling the bulk in favour of that aren’t English.

And Quins are an English club team that provide players to the
national side. The national side coaches and uses those players.
The success or otherwise of the national side has a direct
impact on the league and its support.
