Thacker never really seems to have been given a shot. He's been
high profile since his Tigers days but never seems to be on
England's radar. I can only assume it's his size that puts
people off - Wiki has him at 5'9" and 15st 2lbs. Walker is down
as 6' 1" and 17st 2. Even Dan's 5' 11" and 15st 10.
The paucity of English hookers is worrying. Beyond George (32)
and hopefully LCD (30), there's not much. McGuigan (30) looked
to be an option - even if only for a few years - but seems to
have disappeared. Dolly and Blamire don't fill me with
confidence.

It's kind of hard to judge that given how little England game
time Walker's been given... though I'd tend to agree that he's a
fair way behind George (and LCD, if LCD were available), I think
he's probably a fair bit closer to Dan.

Walker never looks that big to me. I guess it's deceptive.
It will be interesting to see if Riley, and particularly Jibulu,
can kick on. The former seems really useful in the loose, and
the latter looks an absolute beast.

I'd throw Curtis Langdon in the mix who has already been capped.
Never really let us down at Sale but was one of 4 Tier 1-capped
hookers we had so was behind Akker and fighting with Ewan Ashman
for a contract. Now at Saints and if he has a decent few months,
I can see him being involved in the 6Nations (with LCD and Dan,
I guess, and assuming George retires after the World Cup)

Yup, big fan of Langdon.
Thacker is an attacking talent but he is really just too small,
and he's not exactly world class with throwing either.
Unfortunately the modern game is about size up front, first and
foremost.
Walker is a big body who gets through a lot of work.

Yup - I'm a fan of Walker - I think he's tarred with too many
stories of malfunctioning line outs where the lift or the call
might be the problem. And, as mentioned above, is industrial and
not scared to get into the thick of it.
