He looks very useful, and a huge unit too.

He was one of England’s best players in the JRWC as well. Quins
seem to have an endless stream of great junior hookers, but then
struggle to get a full career out of them. I hope at least a
couple of the current crop can make the step up and then stay
healthy enough to give us a selection headache.

I'd hope that we can keep Jibulu and Riley. Both show great
promise and Riley has already stepped up well. I may be in the
minority, but I don't get the hype over Walker.

We have also got Head and Musk on our books. It is a good
headache to have when we have so many young, promising hookers
in our ranks.

I don't think Walker is particularly hyped, but after Baldwin
left Quins needed a senior hooker as the rest were so
inexperienced. They hired Walker (who'd been a U20 international
but was languishing a bit in Bath) for his solid setpiece but
were then pleasantly surprised that he stepped up and brought a
carrying game and leadership contribution he hadn't expected.
I think several of the youngsters might have more potential than
Walker ultimately, but fair play to him that he's raised his
game. Although he's in the England camp the way he's being used
suggests he's more of an England A level - which historically
has been the optimal level for the Quins squad.

Is there any hype for Walker? He's just a very big bloke who
hits hard, carries well, and usually does the basics well. Seems
decent in the scrum, too. We've really needed him but if other
changes to the team make life easier then he becomes less of a
necessity.
There's about 30x more hype for Theo Dan for England, and Riley
has been talked up a lot more than Walker despite being a lot
less consistent.

Maybe hype isn't the right word. I can't understand how he got
capped. He's not a bad player, just not much of a standout, in
my opinion.
Dan is massively hyped. I can't help but think it's a bit much,
too soon.

After Dans performance in the final it was always going to get
him attention, plus he's Saracens anyway.
Walker is a good club level player but not international
standard, he hasn't simply got the all round game needed (Mostly
in the loose).
Personally, I felt Thacker was hard done by not to go to France.
