One of the media myths about Farrell is his leadership and how
this group of players can't function without it, yet tonight
showed they are better without him. He'll be straight back in
though.

a try was clearly a deliberate tactic once the red card was
awarded - keep the scoreboard ticking over to keep the pressure
on Argentina.

the pitch.

is likely to be a 3-4 week ban unless the citing panel accepts
some mitigation (which could happen - I think Curry was
unsighted). I’m not sure what the rules are for replacing banned
players at the RWC but presumably there has to b e a provision
(imagine if two props got bans in successive matches). Given
England’s remaining pool games can probably be won without him,
I suspect Borthwick will keep him on even so, but it’s starting
to get a bit dicey in terms of unavailable players.

Isn’t Billy back for the next game? Two game ban would be Fiji
and today.
Assuming Curry also gets 2 games, we can shift Earl to 7 and
play Billy at 8 v Japan.
Also have Willis and Ludlum as more than able options.
As it stands we’d have everyone back for the Samoa game.

Great performance with 14 men and sets us up nicely for the
group stage, how bad were Argentina? Still don't understand how
Curry was a red, looked like the guy landed into him and curry
was stationary waiting for him to land to make the tackle. I
haven't watched it back so might be wrong

Fantastic & historic win. Not been so involved in an England
game for many years. Every one of those players last night were
heroes. 77 mins with 14 men, in a critical World Cup match, & we
found a way. Very proud.

After the abject, commitment lacking, unintelligent rubbish
mostly played since Autumn 2020 it was refreshing to see an
organised defence and a 10 making intelligent decisions. Farrell
does not get back in, but I bet he will somehow. Lawes
performance was the type people want to see from the captain,
not flapping his arms around whining at the ref.

Were the droppies a plan or spontaneous, I wonder?

Spontaneous I believe.
If Faz is in the team I don't think it happens either.
In fact if Faz is in the team I'm not sure they win at all.

So that's now 3 incredible performances since the 2019 semi
against the Boks, Ireland (albeit a loss) and 20 great mins
against the ABs for a draw. Farrell not on the pitch for the 3.5
but he'll still walk in to the side!

I’m already fed up with the ITV coverage though. Commentary is
woeful and it just feels as though they are having their own
private competition about how many pre planned phrases they can
shoehorn in.

I've always liked Nick Mullins commentary, serious and sometimes
funny, loved his commentary during the Tigers Sarries final at
Twickenham.
Starting to warm towards Topsy Ojo.
Haven't got time for Maggie Alphonsi.
