That's fair. My point really was that he is one of those players
who never actually looks very fit whereas I'm sure he normally
is.

Agreed Ozzie. Yes - how many times does he NOT last the full 80
minutes (barring injuries) ? He has a real engine which enables
him to keep going.

AD reminds me a lot of Nick Easter- neither ever look quick but
who needs to be when you can stay up and move forward with three
defenders hanging on?

Ironically, Dommers' recent issues with England have largely
been a matter of being too quick. In the 6N he was hitting the
sort of lines he runs for Quins but dropping the ball - which
happens more often when you're early or fast. He got the timings
right in the Wales game and I thought was one of the few bits of
the attack that consistently worked - but hardly anyone
(including Borthwick) seems to have given him any credit for
that.

I am so using that excuse in future.
"No I don't have kak hands. I'm just too quick"
And if he's too early, wouldn't that mean his timing might be
off? Regardless of how glacial the passer may be, it's much
easier for the adapt than it is for the passer to suddenly speed
up.

He was wanting to get the ball as late as possible to make life
very hard for the defence and was hitting hard lines at full
pelt. It's a little silly to suggest it's an excuse given it was
what was happening. It's much easier to hold the ball if you
stand still waiting for a pop pass, but it's much much harder to
put in a game changing carry by doing so.
He was stressing his skills too much and should've backed off a
bit, no question. But hitting those lines and having great ball
skills are part of the Dombrandt package, and they're both
something that few other 8s available to England bother trying.

Absolutely his timing was off - something he fixed in the Wales
game. But if he was hitting the line too early (as seemed to be
the case) then he was moving too fast for the pace of the game.
I just thought it was a nice irony.
